Short Intro and About the Job

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Flow Supervisor based in our West Jordan, Utah manufacturing plant!

Position Description:

The Flow Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of hourly associates and the flow of raw materials and finished goods from receipt to consumption through our internal warehouses, external warehouses, and production facilities during their respective shift. The Flow Supervisor will also continuously identify physical and systematic process improvements associated with these responsibilities. This is a night shift position, 12-hour shift, 2-2-3 rotating schedule.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

    Responsible for addressing crane and shuttles technical faults during respective shift.
  • Studying manufacturing production and shipping schedules, identifying gaps and risks while collaborating with the manager and peers to balance work schedule.
  • Leading shipping and receiving, truck scheduling, dock scheduling, labor assignment, and customer and intercompany shipping activities on shift.
  • Shift expert on WMS (Tekdan), and RF/scan gun functionality (Tekterm).
  • Creating and releasing waves of ASRS picking to ensure loads are ready for carrier appointment.
  • Managing priority loads as assigned by deployment team with carrier inbound appointments through effective communication between transportation, deployment, and customer service teams.
  • Verifying and maintaining proper inventory accuracy, including cycle counts in ASRS, to meet Deployment and Customer Service needs.
  • Conducting/leading pre-shift meetings with in-coming operators in front of daily management board(s) to discuss topics related to previous shift, Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature (SQCDMN) metrics, and general plant communication.
  • Coordinating warehouse personnel to effectively meet the demands of the shipping and receiving schedule as per documented procedures.
  • Initiating or suggesting plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals, supporting operators through their coaching and development.
  • Developing root cause analysis using 5-Why, Fishbone diagram, etc. to re-align operational performance with goals and objectives.
  • Leading and participating in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Managing shift employees to ensure compliance to all SOP's, QAR's, Plant Rules, and ISO Standards, including non-conformance management.
  • Supporting the maintenance and continual improvement of all Company Standard programs related to Food Safety, Quality, Compliance, Employee Safety (ISO, AIB, WISE, HACCP) and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining time and attendance processing records utilizing the Dayforce payroll system.
  • Administering discipline as required for job performance, attendance or any other non-bargaining unit and bargaining unit contract violations.
  • Promoting a positive team atmosphere and champion involvement of all employees.
  • Ensuring sound communication systems are in place so all employees are aware and can participate in continuous improvement of the operation; perform daily shift meetings and help facilitate Business Unit meetings as scheduled.
  • Enforcing safety regulations (WISE) to ensure a safe working environment, while presenting a weekly updated safety punch list for the Business Area to the Flow Manager, Plant Director and Local Plant Safety Manager.
  • Maintaining quality of receipt, BOL, ship, and inventory transactions.
  • Other duties as required.

INTEGRATED WORK SYSTEMS (IWS):
Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, CODES, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and development of Integrated Work Systems (IWS) and its pillars (Leadership, Loss Elimination, Progressive Maintenance, Education & Training, Supply Network, Initiative Management, Quality, Environmental Health and Safety, Autonomous Maintenance, Organization) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and 100% Ownership and Zero Loss.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; taste and/or smell, talk and hear.
  • Regularly climb stepladders, stools, and multiple level stairs inside our automated storage system up to 10 levels high (approximate 70 feet high) while wearing the required fall protection equipment.
  • Must be able to bend & stoop at waist level and bend & twist neck and head.
  • Regularly endure repetitive minimal to moderate lifting 10lbs up to 50lbs and occasional team lifting above 50lbs. It requires a normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and results.
  • The employee is frequently standing on a concrete surface for 8-, 10- or 12-hour shifts
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock and vibration.

About You

Education and Experience

  • A High school diploma/GED required. A bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing/warehouse environment, required. Previous supervisory experience within a food/beverage environment, and/or unionized manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • You have the ability and flexibility needed to work a schedule where weekends and nights are required.
  • Experience with Inventory Management and Inventory Control strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and manage a warehouse staff, preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints and manage in a dynamic team environment.
  • Familiarity with logistics management systems, such as SAP, preferred.
  • Experience with lean and process improvements, project management and team leadership.
  • Understanding of forklift safety and function.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and warehouse management applications.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, troubleshooting, conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) across all levels of the organization and can foster effective cross-functional partnerships.
  • Under minimal direction, works independently toward department objectives.
