Actuarial Analyst
Product Development & Rate Filing / North American Programs Pricing Actuarial

How does this role contribute to our collective success?

As a member of the actuarial team supporting the North American Programs business unit, this individual will directly contribute towards executing the portfolio strategy of the Programs book. They will proactively engage with Underwriting colleagues to achieve desired business outcomes and implement business strategies.

What will you do in this role?

  • Support the actuarial filings function of the company. This includes creating rate indications, submitting documents to state DOIs, and responding to objections.

  • Partner with pricing actuaries and underwriters to develop and implement filings strategies for new products

  • Work with consultants to maintain current ISO rating where applicable

  • Additional support for the North American Programs pricing team throughout the year depending on filings project load

  • Develop tools to create more efficiency in the filings process

  • You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

What you need to have:

  • Exam progress towards Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society, or other relevant actuarial organization.

  • 2+ years of experience with admitted business and state rate filings

  • Advanced user of Excel and can perform lookup functions, pivot tables and nested IF statements to create analysis from multiple large data sets.

  • Ability to translate the results of analytical work into opinion and recommendations.

  • Self-starter, proactive and a quick learner. Willing to question and investigate.

  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to establish credibility with senior underwriters and business unit leaders.

  • Attention to detail with work that is technically sound.

  • Timeliness of delivery and appropriate prioritization when there are conflicting demands.

What we prefer you to have:

  • Experience with MGA business.

  • Experience with SQL.

  • Experience with ISO data.

Role Factors:

  • Show continued progress on actuarial exams.

  • Be in the office 3 days per week.

  • Occasional travel for business.

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $100,000 to $120,000. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of various factors, including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location. In addition, all employees are eligible for competitive incentive targets, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
