How does this role contribute to our collective success?

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager with deep experience in Agile methodologies and Scrum Master responsibilities to support strategic initiatives within our Claims function. This role is ideal for a professional who can flex between traditional project management and Agile leadership, depending on the nature of the initiative. The successful candidate will drive delivery of complex, cross-functional projects that enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, and digital capabilities across our global Claims organization.

What will you do in this role?

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Claims-related initiatives, including technology implementations, process improvements, and regulatory changes.

  • Serve as Scrum Master for Agile teams, facilitating ceremonies and promoting Agile principles to accelerate delivery and foster team collaboration.

  • Collaborate with Claims business leaders, IT, and external vendors to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria.

  • Manage project risks, dependencies, budgets, and timelines, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project documentation including charters, roadmaps, risk logs, and change requests.

  • Provide transparent and timely updates to stakeholders, including executive leadership, on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

  • Build and lead cross-functional teams, negotiating for resources and ensuring appropriate skill sets are aligned to project needs.

  • Champion Agile transformation within the Claims function, coaching teams and stakeholders on Agile practices and mindset.

  • Ensure compliance with internal governance standards and external regulatory requirements throughout project lifecycle.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Technology, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in an Agile/Scrum Master role.

  • Strong understanding of P&C insurance operations, particularly in Claims.

  • Proven ability to manage both Agile and Waterfall projects.

  • Experience working with global teams and navigating matrixed organizational structures.

  • Effective communication skills in both written and oral form.

  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, planning and project financial reporting

  • Ability to understand problems and express the complexity of them in clear terms in varying formats depending on the audience

  • Proficiency in project and Agile tools (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, MS Project).

What we prefer you to have:

  • Experience with Claims transformation initiatives, including automation, digital platforms, and data analytics.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to influence and lead without direct authority.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities.

  • PMP, PgMP, Six Sigma certification (or similar relevant credential) preferred

Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to:

Embrace the hybrid culture offered at AXIS, you need to be in office 3 days per week. Much of the work involves using computers for data entry, analysis, and communication. Comfort with prolonged screen time is necessary. While much of the work may be desk-bound, there might be occasions requiring mobility within the office environment, such as attending meetings or accessing filing systems.

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $130,000 - $170,000 (NY/NJ). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
