SUMMARY
The Electronics Assembler performs a variety of assembly operations on electronic components and subassemblies on the production line utilizing work process procedures, written instructions, diagrams, and specifications. Primary work is assembling Pelican's Remote Area Lights utilizing small hand tools, machinery, and applicable materials.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Routes, wires, assembles, and installs electrical and electronic components, such as main junction and terminal boxes, main control switch panels, and instrument and radio panels, according to specifications, using jig boards, hand tools, and equipment.
- Inspects electronic assemblies for proper workmanship as defined in assembly procedures.
- Adhere to production schedules and report material shortages.
- Performs wire preparation, crimping and torqueing.
- Carries out assignments in a safe and efficient manner and ensuring work is in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and safety codes.
- Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Clean and maintain work area, properly turn off and lock out equipment when applicable
- Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components.
- Records assembly serial numbers, part numbers and maintains test record.
- Operates motorized and non-motorized equipment to move materials, supplies and equipment as instructed.
- Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated proficiency at 80% RAL's skill level as documented by training records or must demonstrate proficiency at 80% upon completing 6 months of service in this role.
- Ability to follow detailed written technical instructions and assembly procedures.
- Knowledge of part numbering system and ability to read and understand Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Advanced skills in the use of basic hand and power tools, especially wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, cutting tools, measuring tools, drills, and grinders.
- Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (if any)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills with SAP experience
- 3+ years' experience in manufacturing, electrical assembly experience is desired

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
