TITLE: Sr. Process Engineer


POSITION OBJECTIVE: To lead and optimize the production of current products through targeted process improvements and strategic engineering leadership. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing process and equipment engineering projects that support the introduction of new products, new processes, new equipment, and upgrades to existing machinery and systems. The scope of responsibility spans four key manufacturing processes: blown film extrusion, in-line printing, bag forming (conversion), and product packaging (cartoning). The Sr. Process Engineer -also provides essential support in areas of regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to environmental standards, OSHA safety requirements, American Sanitation Institute guidelines, housekeeping protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and CTPAT security standards.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in process control engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Advanced knowledge of process control systemsand methodologies (e.g., PID control loops, PLCs, SCADA, DCS platforms)
  • Experience with automation systems, sensor integration, and industrial instrumentation
  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other structured process improvement frameworks
  • Experience with project management and implementation
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of general manufacturing and business principles
  • Willing and capable of domestic and international travel
  • Experience with blown film preferred
  • Experience with plastic bag conversion, preferred
  • Experience with product packaging operations, preferred
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



AUTHORITY/DECISION MAKING



  • Approve and implement process changes that improve production efficiency, product quality, or cost-effectiveness
  • Lead capital project planning and execution, including vendor selection, budget management, and project timelines
  • Assign and prioritize work across engineering staff based on business needs and project objectives
  • Make recommendations and decisions related to equipment upgrades, new technology integration, and process control strategies
  • Serve as the technical authority for root cause analysis and corrective action planning in manufacturing-related issues
  • Enforce and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards across all process areas
  • Recommend and justify capital expenditures for equipment, technology, or infrastructure improvements
  • Represent the engineering department in cross-functional meetings, project reviews, and audits



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technical professionals; assign tasks, manage workloads, and develop team capabilities.
  • Process Optimization: Design and maintain documentation for process improvements that enhance yield, uptime, and product quality.
  • Cost Control: Lead initiatives to improve cost-efficiency across manufacturing, including formulation, yield improvement, and downtime reduction.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Maintenance to develop product designs and manufacturing methods.
  • Capital Project Management: Develop and submit capital requests, coordinate with vendors, and ensure on-time, on-budget project completion.
  • Project Execution: Manage the implementation of process-related projects aligned with performance, budget, and schedule expectations.
  • Innovation & Evaluation: Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and processes to increase throughput and reduce costs.
  • Performance Analysis:Track and verify that capital projects meet expected performance targets.
  • Defect Investigation: Investigate scrap and process deviations to support existing product lines and implement corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Partner with technical specialists on ongoing process improvement initiatives and active manufacturing projects.
  • Safety Leadership: Actively participate on the Safety Committee; investigate incidents, recommend actions, and ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Reporting: Provide clear, consistent updates on project and process improvement status to management.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as requested by management.
