Job Summary

Supports Border States financial planning and analysis function through financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, profitability plans, financial metric monitoring and reporting to various levels of management. Analyzes actual vs. budgeted financial results, analyzes financial information against internal and external benchmarks, and assists departments and branches with financial model creation.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions



  • Plays a key role in the preparation of the annual budget process.
  • Analyzes actual versus budgeted financial results and provide variance analysis highlighting key business drivers and opportunities.
  • Assists various departments, branches & other FP&A members with financial model creation and providing insight to ensure the best business decision is made.
  • Analyzes financial & transactional data supporting monthly journal entries and various management reports.
  • Analyzes financial information against internal and external benchmarks.
  • Support Sr Financial Analyst and Financial Analyst II roles with reporting and analysis.
  • Ad-hoc Reporting and Analysis.


Non-essential Functions



  • Supports monthly forecasting processes.
  • Supports the research, design, testing and implementation of new process initiatives for the operating system - enhancing efficiencies & minimizing costs.
  • Acts as a resource for non-financial personnel on matters of accounting, finance, and analysis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • CPA, CMA, FPAC, or experience in wholesale and distribution industries preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English preferred.
  • Prior experience in developing financial models, management reports and variance analysis is preferred.
  • Must have advanced technical skills with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Access a plus, and working knowledge of financial systems, preferably SAP, Internet and Microsoft Outlook.

  • Must have experience in analyzing business trends, including identification of risks and opportunities and have the ability to present recommendations in a timely, clear and concise manner.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with confidence and maturity sufficient to interact with all levels of personnel within the organization.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate ideas and analysis in a clear and concise manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality.

  • Works with integrity and is ethical and upholds organizational values.
