Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supplier Industrialization Engineer with a strong focus on chemicals and advanced materials. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in developing and scaling the manufacturing processes for key battery raw materials such as chemical blends, made-to-spec powders, custom electrodes, coatings, and more. Your primary objective will be to ensure our suppliers can consistently produce materials that meet our stringent specifications, focusing heavily on process engineering excellence, robust quality control, and efficient industrialization.

You will act as a bridge between our internal R&D/design teams and external battery materials suppliers, translating material specifications into actionable manufacturing and inspection processes. A deep understanding of battery raw materials manufacturing, process development, and analytical inspection methodologies is paramount to success in this position. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

What you'll do:
  • Lead the development, optimization, and industrialization of manufacturing processes at supplier sites for battery active materials (e.g., battery electrolytes, carbon powders, iron powders). This includes process flow, equipment selection, control plans, and yield improvement.

  • Partner closely with chemical suppliers to assess their capabilities, identify potential risks, and drive continuous improvement in their manufacturing operations.

  • Thoroughly understand complex material specifications and provide critical feedback to internal teams on manufacturability, inspection feasibility, and cost implications.

  • Define, validate, and implement appropriate inspection and test methods to verify material adherence to specifications.

  • Identify and mitigate technical, quality, and production risks within the chemical supply chain.

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for supplier-related material quality issues, driving sustainable solutions.

What you'll bring:
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or supplier quality engineering, with a strong emphasis on chemical or advanced material production.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and scaling chemical manufacturing processes (e.g., synthesis, purification, powder processing, blending/tolling, formulation).

  • Solid understanding of material specifications, statistical process control (SPC), process capability (Cpk) and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).

  • Proficiency in analytical and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).

  • Demonstrated expertise in CAD drawing development and review (GD&T, Special Characteristics, etc.)

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites as required.
