THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services is seeking dedicated Custodial Workers to join our committed custodial team. In this vital role, you will provide essential housekeeping services to maintain the smooth operation of Torrance State Hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for managing the basic housekeeping tasks within designated areas of the hospital. Your work will contribute to the hospital's goal of ensuring a clean, comfortable, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Duties include assisting with the unpacking and delivery of linens, cleaning and wiping surfaces, removing trash and debris, and maintaining floors and walls to uphold a healthy, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment. You will also maintain outdoor areas, including sweeping and ensuring areas are free of garbage. Various tasks will require climbing ladders, lifting, operating, and cleaning of all household equipment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time, limited term employment. Term will last 6 to 11 months.

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating weekends, approximately every fourth weekend with days off during the week. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
