This position is responsible to lend supervision, support and oversight to daily activities associated with the Packaging Department of the plant. This position is responsible to evaluate and to maintain the quality standards and systems as set forth by the customer and by the company, regarding the manufacturing of products. Maintains training of employee's, helps ensure adherence to company performance goals and objectives, organizes and assigns the daily work as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct departmental operations of the packaging department
- Provide leadership and support to all departmental personnel
- Schedule department production personnel so as to meet customer requirements
- Maintain compliance with quality assurance programs, policies and procedures relative to plant, customer and governmental and auditing agencies
- Maintain compliance with plant safety standards and policies regarding OSHA safety regulations
- Assist department personnel in solving packaging problems such as inventory management, production scheduling, packaging quality problems
- Participate actively in personnel matters and deal with employee problems and complaints. Maintain and support prescribed programs of employee relations, health and safety, training and development for employees of the department
- Ensure standards are adhered to for housekeeping, safety, general maintenance and preventive maintenance matters.
- Review departmental operating reports and records, taking necessary corrective action to improve methods or processes, if needed
- This position will interact with and lend support to the company's Research & Development group regarding product pilot work
- Must follow all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all Corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements along with other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma required
- BS degree preferred or comparable experience in a production and high speed, multi-line packaging and manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years supervisory experience in food, beverage or Rx manufacturing

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to train, teach and motivate
- Ability and aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting
- Must be able to read and write
