Power Quant, Energy Market Analyst, Autobidder

The Autobidder team develops and maintains the physical dispatch and electricity market trading strategies for front-of-meter and behind-the-meter storage systems. We are an algorithmic trading team that develops systematic software solutions for monetizing energy storage by continuously forecasting electricity market prices, analyzing key market trends, and actively re-optimizing behavior. We have repeatedly demonstrated success in residential, commercial, and utility-scale settings.

We are seeking quantitative analysts with forward electricity markets expertise to support Autobidder growing capabilities. As part of the Market Analysis team, your analysis will help inform forward/term products trades, asset backed strategies, structuring, as well as contribute to broader asset valuation, and long-term price forecasting efforts.

You have a deep intellectual curiosity about electricity markets that fuels your ability to learn quickly and apply insights across different market designs and policy environments. You have a track record of informing decisions in the face of uncertainty and ambiguity, and can communicate results effectively across disciplines at varying levels of technical depth.

• Develop and maintain Tesla's view of market fundamentals and prices in ERCOT
• Develop and maintain medium-term price forecast models, and understand and communicatemodel limitations and model risk
• Ideate asset-backed strategies in forward markets
• Support long-term revenue forecasts teams' effort using a combination of internal modeling tools, vendor forecasts, and expert judgments
• Monitor market design and policy initiatives to assess their impact on storage monetization in the mid to long-term

• Expertise in ERCOT and interest in learning about other US markets
• 3+ years of direct experience in at least one of the following: energy-related commodity trading, energy markets quantitative analysis, electricity market operations, power structuring
• Proficiency in Python to manipulate, analyze, and visualize complex data sets to extract insights and trends, and build pricing models
• Proficiency with fundamental modeling of electricity markets in support of electricity trading, including stochastic modeling and production cost modeling
• Modeling of energy storage market applications via simulated market dispatch
• Experience with using Machine Learning techniques for price forecasting
• Exposure to FTR/CRR trading, node/hub basis risk assessment is a plus
