Description

This position
will support the East Valley Region, primarily in the Santa Clarita Imaging
Center. The East Valley Region is currently comprised of UCLA Health Santa
Clarita Imaging Center, UCLA Health Porter Ranch Primary & Specialty Care,
UCLA Health North Hollywood Imaging Center and UCLA Health MPTF Toluca Lake
Primary Care. This position participates in on-call, holiday, and weekend
schedules, prepared by the manager, that supports one of the medical centers in
the UCLA Health system. Additionally, participation in rotating shifts is
required, as needed.

In this role, you will:


    • Provide age-appropriate assessment and
      interventions in order to meet the needs of patients and families served
    • Obtain, evaluate and use information from
      the patient requisition, medical records, referring physician and
      correlate with acquired images
    • Use cognitive sonographic skills, to
      identify and differentiate anatomy and pathology
    • Use independent judgement to produce
      diagnostic images of human anatomy utilizing diagnostic ultrasound systems
      for our referring providers and our interpreting physicians
    • Extend courtesy to our patients, family
      members, visitors and co-workers through our "World Class Practices"
      Service Standards

Internal candidates will be placed according to their Active/Current
career ladder level.

Staff Sonographer:


    • One to two years experience within the
      hospital / acute care setting
    • Must maintain active RDMS certification in
      one specialty, i.e. Abdomen or OB-GYN
    • Graduate of CAAHAP accredited ultrasound
      program is strongly preferred
    • Salary Range: $58.74 - $77.50 Hourly

Senior Sonographer (Advancement into Senior Sonographer job
classification will be assessed after 6 months with UCLA Health):


    • Minimum of four years of prior experience
      within the hospital / acute care setting
    • Must maintain Active RDMS certification in
      three specialties: Abdomen, OB-GYN and RVT
    • Proficient in Abdomen, OB/Gyn, Pediatric and
      Vascular Sonography. Additionally, proficiency in interventional
      procedures
    • Graduate of CAAHAP accredited ultrasound
      school is strongly preferred
    • Salary Range: $65.55 - $79.93 Hourly

Salary Range (Staff through Senior): $58.74 - $79.93 Hourly

Qualifications

Staff Ultrasound Technologist



  • At least 1 year of acute care (hospital) experience - required
  • RDMS credential in one specialty (Abdomen or OBGYN) - required
  • Experience in Breast Ultrasound Imaging - strongly preferred


Senior Ultrasound Technologist



  • 4 years of prior acute care (hospital) experience - required (Advancement into Senior job classification will be assessed after 6 months with UCLA Health)
  • RDMS credential in Abdomen, OBGYN and RVT - required


General Requirements



  • BLS/CPR Certificate - required
  • Graduate of CAAHAP ultrasound program - strongly preferred
  • AAS or higher in Medical Sonography - preferred
  • RDMS (AB or OBGYN) - minimum requirement
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, physicians, nurses, staff and others in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to accept and carry out oral and written instructions accurately
  • Ability to employ independent decision making, prioritize work, while handling multiple tasks to completion within allotted time
  • Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
  • Basic typing skills to input various data into RIS and HIS Information systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology with the ability to distinguish between types of procedures within the assigned department(s) and medical diagnoses
