JOB SUMMARY

The Machine Operator III under the supervision of the Production Supervisor may perform any of the jobs listed below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures

  • Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility

  • Color Operator: Transports pallets of pigment and creates the color as indicated on the schedule by mixing the batches of dry pigments and liquid color according to the formula cards. Tests the product after each batch and transports the color to the line.

  • Slurry Operator: Produces slurry coating for the tiles in the proper color, consistency and quality by mixing oxide powders and water in correct proportion.

  • Trim Presser: Operate ALL presses in the trim department. Follow all SOP's and be part of the rotation process. Follow a production schedule and lead department guidelines. Notify supervisor or Lead person for any problems or malfunction of the equipment.

  • Base Coat and Glaze Mixer: Follow all SOP's in that department and make sure to follow the production schedule. Be familiar with all chemical precautions stated on the SDS. Receive and unload all chemicals delivered on a weekly basis. Conduct weekly cycle counts scheduled by the shift supervisor. Notify supervisor or Lead person for any problems or malfunction of the equipment.

  • Packaging Controls: Understand and control the automatic packaging machine.

  • Kiln Entrance: Load kiln, perform quality checks on tile and touch panel interface controls

  • Ensure that chemicals are stored properly to prevent any possible accidents.

  • Clean equipment and the mixing areas after each batch and check for mechanical defects on the daily basis. Notify supervisor or lead person for any problems or malfunction of the equipment.

  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic mathematical skills (i.e. ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Able to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions, required.

  • 6 months to 1 year of color or tile manufacturing experience required.

  • 6 months Forklift driving experience desired

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Complete repetitive movements such as typing

  • Complete repetitive movements

  • Must be able to work independently

  • Work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to efficiently multi task

  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities

$27.45 per hour

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The pay range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be offered as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
