POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Human Resources is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist. This position manages the recruiting and hiring life cycle for high volume, part-time (PT) Academic and Non-Academic positions. This position also provides guidance to and partners with Hiring Managers, Manager Recruiting Support and HR Consultants on part-time hiring practices, policies, and procedures for assigned units. This position follows events to completion, following up on issues/discrepancies and escalating issues as appropriate.

The Specialist is responsible for completing Workday Recruiting Part-Time hiring life cycle efforts including:

  • Job requisition review for accuracy and compliance
  • Job posting
  • Offer eligibility, reviewing for accuracy and compliance with various policies and/or applicable laws
  • Offer generation
  • Initiating/monitoring/advising/collecting background checks and clearances
  • Performing the hire transactions for part-time employee types, upon all contingencies being met

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provides guidance to Candidates, Hiring Managers and Manager Recruiting Support on Workday Recruiting systematic processes
  • Ensures accuracy and confirms or corrects information
  • Reviews and solutions integration and/or application issues. Escalates to Talent Acquisition management and Worklion Management Office when appropriate
  • Confirms salary amounts by utilizing the Monthly Payroll Calculator
  • Confirms offer letters generate correctly
  • Ensures all General Neocase (HR case management software) inquiries are addressed within the service-level agreement (SLA)
  • Identifies opportunities to improve workflow effectiveness; contribute to process documentation, projects, and improvement initiatives
  • The Specialist may also attend and represent Part-Time Talent Acquisition at local job fairs and student hiring initiatives
  • The Specialist may also conduct trainings as needed for partnership with assigned Units
  • Other applicable duties as assigned

Required skills and experience include:

  • The successful candidate must demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information; commitment to handling questions and concerns with speed, accuracy, and professionalism; and sound judgment and discretion in referring inquiries to other HR staff members or units.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills, including consultative skills with the ability to understand the needs and urgency of customer base.
  • Ability to adapt, change, and generally operate in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and as part of a team.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with peers, hiring managers, and prospective applicants is essential.

This position offers flexible work. Ability to be on site for training purposes is essential. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $38,300.00 - $55,500.00.
