Purpose of the Role

The Senior Material Controller plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management of materials across projects that bridge the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors. This role supports Worley's purpose of delivering a more sustainable world by ensuring that material resources are carefully planned, tracked, and allocated to optimize project delivery. By collaborating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams, the Senior Material Controller safeguards accuracy, reduces waste, and strengthens the reliability of material supply chains that enable sustainable transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to determine accurate material needs, ensuring alignment with both sustainability objectives and operational requirements.
  • Manage the material control system, overseeing receipt, storage, and distribution of equipment and materials to support safe and timely construction and installation activities.
  • Maintain precise documentation, including coding, tracking, and supplier information, to enable transparency and traceability in material movements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust material requirements by evaluating available stock, order sizes, and project timelines to minimize excess and optimize usage.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and project delivery teams to ensure materials are available when needed and meet project standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members, fostering knowledge sharing and supporting professional development within the department.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration efforts to resolve material-related challenges and implement integrated, data-driven solutions that support Worley's ambition to be a leader in sustainability.
  • Support the development and implementation of improved systems, tools, and processes that enhance material control efficiency and align with global best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership through reports, presentations, and recommendations that support decision-making and project success.

  • University degree in engineering, supply chain, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in material control within large-scale industrial, energy, or resources projects, with proven ability to lead functional project teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of material control systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and guide others in their use.
  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation, with the ability to interpret specifications and translate them into actionable material requirements.
  • Demonstrated capability in planning, supervising, and delivering material control functions on complex projects, ensuring compliance with project objectives and industry standards.
  • Proven collaboration skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively across engineering, procurement, construction, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to deliver integrated solutions that align with Worley's ambition to drive sustainable change and its commitment to deriving the majority of revenue from sustainability-related projects.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to accuracy, efficiency, and sustainability in material management.
  • Experience providing mentorship, guidance, or leadership to team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and high-performance outcomes.
