Where you will work

The Cypress Bend facility is in the historic Mississippi River Delta and produces bleached paperboard and bleached Kraft pulp, used in the production of folding cartons, commercial print paperboard, carded packaging, and cupstock. This facility boasts over 300 talented employees and stretches across 730 acres. Clearwater Paper employees are proud to manufacture a high-quality product for an essential industry.

Cypress Bend is a rural community with close access to the Mississippi River. This is a wonderful location for those who love the outdoors and offers plenty of activities including fishing, hiking, camping, and biking. The Cypress Bend area also offers several opportunities for social and civic involvement including the McGehee Hospital, McGehee Boys & Girls Club, Food Pantry, Chamber of Commerce, Arkansas City Food Pantry, Paws and Claws Humane Society, and the Polite Foundation. Cypress Bend emphasizes exposure to the arts including the WWII Japanese Internment Museum, Desha County Museum, and SEArk Concert Association. Cypress Bend is in close proximity to McGehee, Monticello, and Drew Central public schools as well as UAM McGehee College of Technology and UAM Crossett College of Technology. McGehee is well-positioned within two (2) hours of Little Rock, AR, West Monroe, LA and three (3) hours from Jackson, MS or Memphis, TN. What you will do

The Maintenance Manager for Pulp and Paperboard is responsible for development of the organization to achieve expected results in safety, environmental compliance, quality, productivity, cost and employee development. This position will assist the Sr Maintenance Manager, fellow Maintenance Managers, and the department supervisors in coverage of the department responsibilities and manage and lead the department in the Sr Maintenance Manager's absence.

Leadership



  • Responsible for managing the site maintenance reliability group
  • Provides positive role model for all mill personnel in the area of safety, quality and productivity
  • Provides guidance, instruction and mentoring for the maintenance and reliability staff
  • Provides periodic feedback to employees in the areas of job knowledge, performance, and development. Provides training where needed to improve employee skill sets critical to the success of the business
  • Manages equipment reliability to achieve lowest maintenance costs for the mill, including the containment of overtime implications
  • Responsible for resolving maintenance employee relations issues
  • Direct supervision of the facilities coordinators to maintain buildings, grounds, fire protection and utility systems
  • May work with designated third-party providers as necessary to execute planned work


Operations



  • Sets objectives and goals cascaded and aligned to the site's Mission Critical Objectives (MOC)
  • Coaches the business unit in the right behaviors * Ensures the business unit works to standards (Safety, Quality, ...)
  • Develops the required standards
  • Coaches and facilitate losses elimination by using problem solving tools
  • Assures the problems are solved (root cause) and tasks are implemented in a sustainable way
  • Accountable for the business unit operational budget
  • Defines and executes improvement projects and works with the engineering team in the Approval for Capital Expenditure (AFCE) needs to support midterm plans
  • Owns the Daily Operating Revenue (DOR)/Weekly Operating Revenue (WOR)
  • Ensures effective communication and results review through the meeting sequence (Shift Hand Off [SHO], DOR, WOR)


Safety and Environmental Compliance



  • Assists with leading the safety effort for the maintenance staff
  • Identifies safety issues that may arise due to equipment modification
  • Maintains a clean and orderly environment conducive to safe work habits, encourages employee accountability
  • Ensures the mill is compliant with local state and federal rules in the area of maintenance equipment
  • Responsible for working with vendors and suppliers to ensure that teams being supplied are appropriately trained to meet the site's contractor safety expectations

What you will need



  • Bachelor's degree required. Industrial Management or Engineering degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in paper mill maintenance, engineering, project management and/or production management required
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Functional understanding of fire protection and utility (boiler, compressed air, HVAC, etc.) systems, predictive and preventive maintenance (vibration, lube, IR, etc.) programs, work order systems and world-class maintenance systems is desired
  • Previous experience using a Computer Maintenance Management system preferred (e.g. JD Edwards)
  • Must possess analytical troubleshooting skills
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Continuous improvement/lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to foster Continuous Improvement
  • High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces
  • Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment
  • Dirt, noise, odor, and temperature extremes
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
  • Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid
