YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE We are looking for a Product Manager in 3600 Eagle Nest Dr, Crete, IL 60417 USA. Your mission will be to: Purpose (Objective): This position has the responsibility to manage the product portfolio of either microbiology or chemistry services offered by Merieux NutriSciences including new product development, product launch, and post-launch functions in order to maintain and increase the gross margin of the company, while helping the company stay at the forefront of industry innovation. This position is also responsible for developing and managing the business strategy of microbiology or chemistry for North America. Main activities: * Analyze market needs and assess the direction in order to define new potential services/methods in microbiology or chemistry services. * Review and evaluate potential new services/methods through the new product planning phases: opportunity evaluation, feasibility study, and definition (business plan). * Develop pricing structures for new methods and services across North America, including catalog list price. Review current portfolio pricing structure and optimize pricing strategy. * Act as a project manager for method development and services for North America with Global alignment needed. * Work with Product Marketing to build internal and external marketing campaigns for the existing portfolio of microbiology or chemistry services. * Focus on business growth around microbiology or chemistry offerings and increase quality lead generation. * Coordinate efforts with clients, market analysts, information services, and marketing communications personnel as well as external vendors such as consultants, vendors, and others to complete major marketing product/project reviews and analyses in order to provide recommendations including share of voice (SOV) from clients for all new microbiology or chemistry services. * Conduct financial analysis (business case) for methods to be transferred from other Merieux NutriSciences regions to North America and serve as project manager for transferring methods that are selected. * Develop and maintain a working knowledge of food microbiology, food chemistry, and related technologies as well as proposed regulations in order to accurately access and segment the market. * Voice of Customer (VOC): Maintain client perspective through participation in sales-calls, scientific and trade shows, and other venues in order to gain a complete understanding of what client needs are and how possible services align with market needs. * Remain current on testing procedures being provided at the various business units to ensure clients are getting the best solution to their needs. * Evaluate the appropriateness of new projects within the business units and help determine proper location options for conducting projects. * Manage product launches and marketing efforts including detailed planning, internal as well as the external promotion of products, and provide follow-up. * Perform other duties as needed. * Support corporate quality and improvement process. YOUR PROFILE Profile (required education/qualification and professional background): This position requires an advanced knowledge of business-to-business marketing, typically obtained from extensive experience or an advanced degree. Required skills: * Product and project management process knowledge and experience are needed to effectively develop and implement new services and method improvements. * Prior related experience in these areas (food microbiology and chemistry) would be beneficial as well as knowledge of testing services, laboratory quality systems, Standard Operating Procedures, accreditation requirements, pertinent regulations and other industry-specific drivers. Extensive services-based product management experience could work if there is a good understanding of scientific markets. * A strong understanding of inputs to profit and loss accounting is required to ensure products are beneficial to the company. * B-to-B marketing communications and competitive analysis knowledge is beneficial in determining market needs and direction. * Strong interpersonal skills are required to build and maintain relationships across laboratory and corporate functions. * Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
Management (Size and characteristics of the team(s)): None Work Environment: The position primarily works in an office environment. Physical dexterity is necessary to effectively work a keyboard.
