JOB TITLE: Industrial Hygienist REQUISITION ID: FOS00GE DEPARTMENT: Corporate Safety & Training - Cedar Point Safety & Training Center LOCATION: Kansas City, MO PAY RANGE: Industrial Hygienist I: $52,700 - $65,900 Industrial Hygienist II: $64,500 - $80,600 Sr Industrial Hygienist: $81,800 - $109,100 Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Additional hours as required) Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Industrial Hygienist plays a key role in conducting field assessments, collecting samples, and assisting in the evaluation of workplace hazards to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents. This position will report to the Manager of Safety Operations and serve as a technical resource within the Safety and Training Department under the technical direction of the Lead Industrial Hygienist. Duties and Responsibilities * Assist the Lead Industrial Hygienist with guiding the compliance effort for all applicable industrial hygiene, health, and safety regulations as well as industrial hygiene-related standard of care. * Participate in training and education programs related to industrial hygiene and workplace safety. * Assist the Lead Industrial Hygienist in developing and implementing exposure control plans and hazard assessments. * Conduct sampling / monitoring of worker exposure to workplace health agents. * Maintain accurate records of relevant industrial hygiene documentation. * Operate and maintain industrial hygiene monitoring equipment (e.g. air sampling pumps, noise dosimeters, gas detectors). * Prepare reports summarizing findings and assist in communicating results to stakeholders. * Support incident investigations and exposure evaluations as needed. * Collaborate with operations and field safety functions to ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, NIOSH). * Assist with management of all aspects of the Industrial Hygiene Program for the company. * Assist with maintenance of Evergy's master inventory of Safety Data Sheet records.
Education and Experience Requirements: * Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Health & Safety / industrial hygiene-related degree program or related field is required. * 1-2 years industrial hygiene experience is preferred. Other relevant professional industrial hygiene experience will be considered. * Experience with the EHS data management systems preferred. This includes travel to other facilities and working cooperatively and productively with various other job functions. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: No license, certification, or testing required for this role. Working Conditions & Travel: Both office and field work required. Field work has the potential to be physically demanding with exposure to various environmental conditions to include heat, cold, and wet.
