Overview

MRI Coordinator

  • Location; Javon Bea Hospital
  • Pay Range: $35.85-$53.77
  • Hours: 40

Shift differential for qualifying shifts (PM shift 15% of base pay, up to $4.50 per hour / Night shift 20% of base pay, up to $6.00/hour)

Job Duties:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the MRI Department; plans, assigns, supervises and reviews work of staff involved in the delivery of MRI services.
  • Responds to technical questions, concerns, and problems from MRI and other Mercy staff, including physicians.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and coordinates with Manager and BioMed to ensure unplanned downtime is managed,
  • Flexes as needed to cover shifts; includes evenings, nights, weekends; holidays and on call hours.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited radiography program or accredited MRI training program.
  • Minimum Five (5) years MRI experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • ARRT Radiography registration required if ARRT (MR)
  • ARRT MRIor ARMRIT registration required
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform diagnostic MRI procedures and techniques as required by MRI Tech 2

  • Is responsible for daily operational tasks such as: Patient flow, delegation of duties and assignment of tasks.

  • Reports and documents MRI safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.

  • Maintains smooth and efficient workflow in the MRI Department; is an active participant in scanning patients daily.

  • Participates in and/or completes performance appraisals and meets regularly with partners to provide feedback.

  • Responds to technical questions, concerns, and problems from MRI and other Mercy staff, including physicians.

  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and coordinates with Manager and BioMed to ensure unplanned downtime is managed,

  • Ensures adequate par levels of supplies and linen; reorders as necessary.

  • Assists with medical record/image sharing as necessary.

  • In collaboration with the Manager/Supervisor, ensures compliance with regulatory bodies; completes and submits required QA metrics. Helps to identify areas where improvement may be necessary.

  • Assists Department Manager/Supervisor with training for new installations and upgrades to equipment and software for MRI as appropriate for site and licenses held.

  • Interviews, hires and oversees orientation of new partners.

  • Maintains training, competency, and orientation documents along with Supervisor

  • Assists leadership with regular staff meetings.

  • Maintains and renews accreditation for ACR and the state.

  • Implements and monitors MRI safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluates the accuracy and quality of scans and provides technical assistance to staff whenever necessary.

  • Assists Manager/Supervisor in monitoring quality assurance program to conform to federal, state, local, and facility regulations and guidelines.

  • Consults on work in progress to assure accuracy and completes work.

  • Performs and trains specialized and more difficult procedures.

  • Reviews current literature and attends meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in field.

  • Expert level knowledge of electronic medical record and PACS and imaging equipment

  • Maintains policies and procedures for MRI dept with input from Director, Manager and Radiologists.

  • Ensures proper staff scheduling to meet the needs of the department.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Graduate from an accredited radiography program or accredited MRI training program.

Minimum Five (5) years MRI experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).

Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.

Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

Directly supervises partners in the MRI Department.
