Overview

Benefits Specialist, Human Resources

- Performs processes relating to the administration of benefits. Performs other duties as assigned.

- 80 hours / 2 weeks

- Monday to Friday Day Shift Hours

- This position will be located at the Mercyhealth Rockford Medical Building in Rockford, IL.

- This position will require some local travel to attend events, such as Benefits Fairs and New Employee Orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels and corresponds with partners regarding benefits, policies, and procedures via in-person, phone, email, and Workday cases.

  • Processes partner change of status transactions through Workday.

  • Responsible for termination paperwork and processes.

  • Complies with state and federal benefit regulations.

  • Participates in benefit audits on an on-going basis.

  • Attends orientation as the benefit representative on a rotating basis.

  • Maintains benefit personnel files and completes filing/reporting as required.

  • Answers phones and greets customers entering the department.

  • Is an active participant in department specific meetings and committee(s).

  • Participates in annual benefit projects such as open enrollment/benefit fairs and benefit plan reviews as needed.

Excellent interpersonal/communication skills


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of clerical experience, preferably in Human Resources.

Special Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach, walk, handle, finger, feel, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds and up to 25 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
