Position Title: Shipping Manager / Lead
Wage: Based on Experience We are seeking a Shipping & Logistics Manager in Milwaukee, WI to oversee the end-to-end shipment process. This role leads a small team responsible for packaging materials to customer specifications, coordinating with 3PL partners, and ensuring all domestic and international documentation-such as SLIs, customs paperwork, certificates of origin, and health certificates-is accurate and submitted on time. Shipping Manager / Lead Responsibilities: - Supervise, train, and mentor the shipping team; assign daily packing and shipping tasks - Conduct regular quality checks on packaging to ensure customer requirements are met - Plan and schedule outbound shipments through 3PL providers, optimizing routes and costs - Collaborate with Production to confirm inventory availability and prioritize orders - Prepare, review, and file Shipper's Letter of Intent (SLIs), U.S. customs documentation (ISF, AES filings), Certificates of Origin & Health Certificates for international shipments and additional export/import permits or phytosanitary certificates as required - Ensure all documentation is properly recorded and audit-ready - Maintain detailed shipment logs, reconcile against packing lists and invoices - Manage scanning and uploading of work orders and confirmations into ERP systems - Identify and implement process improvements to reduce errors and improve efficiency - Stay current on shipping regulations and best practices; update procedures as needed - Work with Sales to confirm order specifications and delivery timelines - Partner with Customer Service on shipment status updates and issue resolution Requirements for Shipping Manager / Lead: - At least three years of experience in shipping/logistics management within manufacturing or distribution - Demonstrated expertise preparing SLIs, customs filings, certificates of origin, health certificates, and related export/import documentation - Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team and enforce quality standards - Strong attention to detail with a track record of accurate documentation - Proficiency with ERP or order-management systems and MS Excel - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - Experience in leather, textile, or other specialized packaging industries preferred - Certification in logistics, customs brokerage, or related field preferred What We Offer: - Competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plan options - Professional development opportunities and career growth - A collaborative, safety-focused work environment |
