Puget Sound Energy is looking to grow our community with top talented individuals like you! In order to support a decarbonized energy system, PSE's Resource Development Technical team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Sr. Project Manager position. We are on a journey to deliver on our clean energy goals, with the first major milestone occurring by 2030. This role will support this journey by providing project management expertise for the development of new assets (wind, solar, energy storage, and other technologies) under consideration for PSE's generation portfolio.

Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.

Job Description

Senior Project managers direct and control projects that may require gaining the cooperation of multiple internal and external parties.Projects may involve multiple dissimilar functions and impact many facets of PSE's operations.



Projects at this level are often high risk and address the combined interests and missions of PSE, State, County and municipal organizations, special interest groups and various communities.



Initiates projects, including assessment of internal and external stakeholder commitments, demonstration of business need and evaluation of project feasibility. Leads project teams to identify time frame, methods for accomplishing the project, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.Works with stakeholders to develop contractor statements of work, bid documents, equipment specifications, and coordination of estimates.



Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.



Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.



This job is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assembles and leads multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Identifies the scope of an assigned project and determines logical action to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Applies general rules, standards and guidelines to specific technical problems.
  • Recognizes technical issues that impact the projects under their leadership, and obtains resources to mitigate project risks.
  • Communicates technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences, sometimes in public settings.
  • Gathers, consolidates, analyzes, and reports facts in relation to project requirements.
  • Responsible for scope, schedule and budget development, management and forecasting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • At least eight years relevant project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills and techniques, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Ability to write clear, concise and direct narrative and reports.
  • Extensive knowledge of team management techniques to bring about agreement between divergent points of view.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principals.
  • Extensive experience with utility methods, techniques and procedures involved in budgeting, procurement and contract administration.
  • Strong knowledge in project management discipline to effectively arrange resources and manage multiple medium to high complexity projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of techniques used to involve community members in development of project affecting their community.
  • Strong negotiating and critical thinking skills.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected.
  • Leadership skills that can energize a multidisciplinary work team to respond to business needs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing the design and construction of utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management principles, processes and techniques, applied in a utility setting.
  • Advanced Project Management Training and Project Management or Construction Management Certification from an accredited institution (PMI or College) Continuing Education appropriate to the profession.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

The pay range for this position is$104,500.00-$174,100.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
