This position provides administrative support to the Department of Surgery. This position is the primary person responsible for coordinating credentialing, licensing, and privileging functions within the Department of Surgery. This position also provides back-up administrative support for recruitment and position changes, as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Examples of Duties
-
Administrative- 85% A. Liaison for incoming and current providers to assist with required core documents and associated processes for credentialing and privileging. Serve as a resource for State and Federal licensing applications. Advise providers on navigating MD-App for hospital privileging. Occasional travel to IDFPR in Springfield to follow up on licenses/notices, as authorized third party. B. Liaison for non-billing provider hospital privileges to assist with required application processes. C. Assist with drafting and submission of requests for waivers of threshold eligibility for hospital privileges, as needed. D. Serve as sponsor on 3rd party access requests for external providers/users. E. Process paperwork on behalf of department for each new provider hired for SIU Credentialing Office e.g., Privilege Request Form, CPEPC, Account Build Form, New Provider Billing Form. F. Assist billing providers with SIU internal recredentialing paperwork and hospital reappointment paperwork in the MD-App portal. G. Oversees ongoing monitoring for licensure and certification renewals and deadlines. Serves as a resource to support staff and billing providers to facilitate renewals. H. Attend meetings with SIU Credentialing to review tracking spreadsheet, pending providers and statuses for incoming providers pertaining to credentialing/privileging. Carefully reviews SIU credentialing tracking sheets to ensure accuracy and timely processing of requests. Carefully reviews SIU credentialing reports for accuracy of insurance roster data. I. Process paperwork for new clinic sites and adding hospital privileges for existing providers. J. Process account modifications for clinic location changes for providers. K. Draft and process collaborative agreements for Advance Practice Providers. L. Draft and process notices to IDFPR for Advance Practice Providers. M. Facilitates requests for COI from SIU Risk Management. N. Serves as a resource in advising, interpreting and ensuring compliance with NCQA, hospital bylaws, State, University, SIU Healthcare and Department policies and procedures. O. Serves as a resource to Departmental leadership for billing provider recruitment, advising on timelines for billing and privileging start dates for hire offers. P. Serves as HR liaison for Faculty/PA positions in NEOED applicant tracking system including initiating vacancy and hire offer requests, and tracking approvals and status. Q. Facilitates search committee review processes and documentation, and tracks candidate referrals. R. Initiates personnel transactions in Laserfiche including Hire Processing, Change of Assignment and Supervisor Change forms for Faculty/PA positions. S. Serves as backup HR liaison for Civil Service positions.
Fiscal-10% A. Serves as delegate fiscal officer on all Department of Surgery accounts that include state, Foundation, SIU Healthcare and grant accounts. B. Reviews and approves expenditures of funds for clinical, administrative and divisional accounts in accordance with established guidelines.
Reporting-5% A. Prepares and organizes reports containing confidential information as directed by the Assistant to the Chair or Health Care Administrator III. B. Using E-priv database, update and distribute insurance lists for all surgery providers. C. Uses SIU reports portal to produce case logs, as needed. D. Extracts, manipulates and analyzes clinical data using electronic databases. E. Interprets data for presentation to Department of Surgery staff. F. Designs and prepares spreadsheets to house data. G. Creates ad-hoc reports on an as-needed basis for departmental requests.

Qualifications

- High school graduation or equivalent
- Any one or any combination totaling five (5) years (60 months) from the following categories:
- college course work in business, finance, accounting or a related field:
- 60 semester hours or an Associate's degree equals one (1) year (12 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's degree equals three (3) years (36 months)
- Master's degree or higher equals four (4) years (48 months)
- progressively more responsible general or specialized office experience which included aspects of supervising staff or a job function, organizing, and performing duties that lead to knowledge of generally accepted office principles
