Job Summary The Information Technology (IT) Operations Lead is a key role responsible for aligning IT infrastructure, business systems, and enterprise initiatives with strategic growth objectives in the government contracting environment. This position drives the development and integration of scalable systems, supports program management efforts, and spearheads change management initiatives to ensure the organization remains agile, efficient, and competitive. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical acumen, strategic vision, and business development insight to enable organizational success and operational excellence. Role and Responsibilities IT Operations Management
  • Oversee daily IT operations, ensuring system uptime, performance, and reliability across all sites and remote teams.
  • Manage and monitor the company's IT infrastructure including servers, network devices, workstations, mobile assets, and cloud resources.
  • Develop and enforce IT service desk processes; serve as escalation point for resolving complex technical issues.
  • Schedule and supervise regular maintenance, upgrades, and patching of systems and applications to ensure compliance and security.
Help Desk and User Support
  • Lead the IT Service Desk team, delivering high-quality technical support to all users, including executives, program managers, and remote personnel.
  • Track, review, and report on resolution metrics and user satisfaction for IT tickets.
  • Train users on security protocols, company systems, and government-compliance requirements.
Security and Compliance
  • Implement and oversee controls aligned with federal security requirements (e.g., NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, DFARS, FedRAMP).
  • Ensure all endpoints, servers, and network components are compliant with DoD and Federal security requirements for contractors.
  • Coordinate regular vulnerability assessments, incident response drills, and remediation efforts.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation needed for internal and external audits, and serve as a front-facing lead during audit engagements.
Network and Systems Administration
  • Administer and optimize local networks, VPNs, firewalls, and related components to support secure distributed operations.
  • Manage cloud service configurations (e.g., Microsoft 365 GCC High, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) and hybrid environments as needed.
  • Enable secure and compliant collaboration with customer and partner government networks.
Asset and Vendor Management
  • Oversee IT asset lifecycle management: procurement, inventory, configuration, deployment, and retirement.
  • Manage relationships with hardware, software, MSP, and cloud vendors; handle contract negotiations and renewals.
  • Evaluate and implement new tools/solutions to improve efficiency and security.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
  • Develop, test, and maintain IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans in alignment with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure fully auditable backup processes, with regular testing and documentation of recovery procedures.
Documentation and Policy Development
  • Draft, implement, and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) for IT processes and security.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of configurations, network diagrams, inventories, user access lists, and change logs.
  • Ensure all IT activities are documented in accordance with quality management (ISO/CMMI) and federal audit standards.
Project Support and Collaboration
  • Act as primary technical liaison for government program managers and customer IT/security officials.
  • Support onboarding of new contracts/programs by leading technical setup, access provisioning, and secure connectivity.
  • Assist the Technology, Innovation and Strategic Systems Lead with system integrations, change management, and digital transformation initiatives.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Mentor and develop IT staff, fostering a high-performance, customer-service-oriented team.
  • Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and provide ongoing training tailored to government contracting best practices.
Key "Front-Facing" Responsibilities
  • Be the company's "face" for all IT and cybersecurity topics during customer meetings, audits, and onboarding calls.
  • Clearly communicate IT issues, projects, and roadmaps to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in proposal efforts by providing technical input on IT security, infrastructure, and compliance capabilities.

Required Qualifications and Education
  • Minimum of five years' experience serving in the military or working as a US Federal employee, or US Federal Contractor
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited university, or an Associate's degree with ten years of relevant experience as a project/program manager
  • Prior experience implementing a new program; including staffing, systems/tools, processes, managing deliverables, and reporting
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Previous experience building a business case that results in substantial investment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work at all levels of the organization
  • Proven success completing programs according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Ability to use data to drive decision-making and measure results, but also highly proficient in analyzing and articulating at an executive level
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance
Preferred Qualifications and Education
  • CompTIA Security+, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or similar.
  • CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server/Cloud Administrator, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or related.
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar-especially valuable in environments leveraging Government Cloud.
  • Deep familiarity with Windows server administration, network operations, cloud environments (such as Microsoft 365 GCC High, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government), and cybersecurity tools.
  • Previous experience with product and release management is preferred
  • Proficient in using smart phone technology and social media communication applications
  • Ability to multitask between at least three complex projects simultaneously while managing overall program performance
  • Be able to travel approximately 40% of the time to support several customer locations in the continental US, and possibly abroad.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Must be able to work in office conditions (on-site) for normal workdays, sitting for long periods
Additional Notes

Ideal candidate will be an experienced Information Technology Manager with recent military/contract/SOF background and a current security clearance that can manage several projects and programs simultaneously with little supervision and be able to deliver maximum results with limited time and resources. Candidate must thrive in a growing and dynamic environment and be willing to learn and grow.
