Job Summary / Overview

Omega is seeking an experienced Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer to support CPCCo's criticality safety management and oversight activities at the Hanford DOE site. This role provides technical expertise, mentoring, and compliance support to ensure nuclear criticality safety programs meet DOE regulatory requirements, industry standards, and CPCCo implementation guidance.

The selected candidate will apply extensive criticality safety knowledge and leadership to support assessments, oversight reviews, and staff mentoring in a highly regulated DOE nuclear environment.

• Support CPCCo in the management and oversight of nuclear criticality safety programs.
• Conduct criticality safety-related assessments and facility walk-throughs to evaluate compliance and program effectiveness.
• Provide training and mentoring to criticality safety staff and operations staff on policies, practices, and program implementation.
• Ensure compliance with DOE Orders, regulations, and 10 CFR 830 requirements related to nuclear criticality safety.
• Perform routine and ad-hoc reviews, assessments, and oversight walk-downs of program adequacy, implementation, and compliance.
• Mentor and train staff as directed by CPCCo management to strengthen organizational safety expertise.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
• Minimum of 15 years in the nuclear safety industry.
• At least 8 years directly as a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer, meeting the definition under 10 CFR 830.
• Demonstrated expertise in DOE nuclear facility operations, safety analysis, and compliance oversight.
• Must possess an active DOE Q Clearance.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage operations staff, management, and regulators.
• Proven record of supporting DOE or NNSA mission-critical projects.
• Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
• Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
• An education equivalency of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education may be considered.

Desired Skills:

• Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
• Experience training/mentoring staff and leading programmatic reviews highly desirable.
