JOB SUMMARY

The Aviation Mechanic inspects, repairs, and maintains aircraft to ensure they meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts pre-flight and post-flight inspections; conducts the inspection, overhaul, or repair of aircraft, engines, propellers, appliances, or components thereof in accordance with current and applicable federal aviation regulations (FAR), manufacturer's specifications and recommendations

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft systems including airframes, engines, landing gear, hydraulic systems, and avionics

  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical issues, determine necessary repairs, and replace defective parts

  • Informs the Shop Inspector or Chief Inspector of all unsafe or unairworthy conditions discovered while conducting the inspection, overhaul, or repair of any article or component thereof

  • Maintains the immediate work area in a clean and orderly manner

  • Maintains accurate maintenance records in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company policies

  • Uses diagnostic tools and specialized equipment to test aircraft systems

  • Complies with all safety protocols and regulatory standards

  • Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and FAA regulations

  • Detail-oriented

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation

  • Physical ability to work in confined spaces, lift heavy parts, and stand for long periods

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent

  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification in Airframe & Power-plant (A&P) Mechanics

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in business administration, management, or aviation
