POSITION OVERVIEW

The Platform Lead is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to achieve breakthrough production results. The Platform Lead will be responsible for leveraging human safety, food safety, continuous improvement, and culture development processes to build their team and deliver results. This position is accountable for developing and executing daily, weekly, and 90-day plans to deliver an improvement glidepath through rigorous application of Foundational systems and Driving System Utilization. The Platform Lead will have ownership of Safety, Quality, System Performance (SP), Schedule Attainment (SA) and Clean Inspect Lubricate (CIL) systems and Planned Stops for their platform.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide organizational leadership in a dynamic and collaborative environment
  • Provide business and technical leadership necessary to ensure both the department and facility meet and/or exceed goals in critical manufacturing success areas (Human Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Cost, Sanitation, System Performance, and Productivity)
  • Establish and sustain effective relationships to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems
  • Direct management of both salaried (2-3) and hourly (30) employees
  • Develop front line supervisors by providing coaching, support, direction, documented performance appraisals, and ongoing feedback
  • Manage a department budget
  • Facilitate effective sharing of information across work teams, business areas, and functional areas
  • Assume ownership for strategic initiatives and additional duties as assigned
  • Work and/or attend meetings during other shifts (including off-shifts and/or weekends) as necessary
  • Demonstrate technical mastery of self and organization
  • Obtain in-depth understanding of technical manufacturing processes and ensure that front line supervisors are progressively developing technical expertise
  • Develop deep understanding of DSU methodologies including:
    • Leads daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly direction setting, including recognition of team members
    • Lead the development and execution of Plan for the Day, including development and handoff of plan for off shifts
    • Health of CIL (Clean-Inspect-Lubricate) system
    • Implementation and evolution of Planned Stops
  • Function as a technical and business resource in areas of system operations and product requirements
  • Drive Zero Loss Culture in assigned areas by developing and empowering leaders and employees
  • Review daily operational performance reports and drive accountability in critical success areas
  • Ensure manufacturing process failure root causes are identified and are in the process of being eliminated
  • Support platform related tests, projects and start-ups

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of related manufacturing experience
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to effectively lead change and resolve conflict
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity and change
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology and providing solutions to technical challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage the workforce on the floor, including building positive employee relations
  • Sound analytical and business judgment including demonstrated problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to plan, lead, and execute initiatives in a complex environment
  • Demonstrated capability in application of Foundational Systems and Driving System Utilization
  • Demonstrated basic technical capability on at least one product platform

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Math, Science, or Engineering
  • 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading in a team-based system
  • Experience effectively delivering results through others
  • Previous manufacturing continuous improvement program experience
  • Working knowledge of data systems including MAXIMO, MQIS, MA, and GSTEMS
  • Experience as a Line Lead, Process Lead and/or Maintenance Lead

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range



The salary range for this position is $81000.00 - $121700.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
