Make banking a Fifth Third better GENERAL FUNCTION: The Corporate Responsibility Strategies Director is responsible for the elevation of Fifth Third Bank's reputation through the leadership of Corporate Responsibility strategies across the corporation.Responsible for strategy creation through the selection and execution of supporting tactics to deliver positive impact and outcomes for the organization and our key stakeholders. Leverages research, best practices, regulatory knowledge, and organizational knowledge in the design and delivery of best-in-class corporate responsibility strategies. Engages with managers and leaders across the Corporate Responsibility Office (CRO) and Lines of Business (LOBs), as well as with regional and corporate bank executives to provide leadership, direction, and oversight in achieving compliance with the Bank's Corporate Responsibility, Community Reinvestment Act, and Sustainability Governance strategies and program requirements.Advises and recommends program creation, risk analytics and responsible banking initiatives across the bank and regional markets.The incumbent engages and influences internal and external constituencies to effect change and drive recognition of Fifth Third Bank. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types. Ensures outside partners comply with Bank regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES: Create and implement Corporate Responsibility strategies by identifying the highest-value reputation-enhancing goals to pursue and the methods to accomplish them. In development of the strategy, take a holistic approach, considering how to increase our reputation with external customers, community and regulatory organizations, and employees. The strategy should include clear deliverables and measurable results. Leverage analytics to determine key points of leverage and test assumptions; establish and monitor scorecard metrics to track progress. Define and drive strategic change throughout the enterprise and specifically in collaboration with CRO departments, Corporate Risk and Reputation, Ethics, Communications, Marketing and other relevant functions and LOBs. Identify key internal partners and work collaboratively across functions to raise awareness, gain alignment, and drive progress toward Corporate Responsibility goals. Listen to, understand, and communicate with internal partners in a way that motivates them to take action to collaboratively execute against the strategies. Consult with Bank leaders to evaluate policies, processes, and programs in order to elevate our commitment and results within the Corporate Responsibility Office. Champion and lead policies, programs and processes which drive Corporate Responsibility strategies across the enterprise, including the identification and escalation of risks or issues related to these policies and processes. Oversee tools, systems, processes, and data used for the oversight of Corporate Responsibility strategies. Set targets, monitor results, and communicate results to support transparency and accountability. Ensure the effective execution of key processes and programs that will efficiently drive results by aligning communication, people, culture, and process. In partnership with Communications and Public Relations, develop and execute a communications and public relations strategy for scope of responsibility that all stakeholders are aware of and can speak to about the Bank's Corporate Responsibility efforts. Determine key stakeholders, communication needs, communication methods, and frequency; lead regular meetings with internal partners to review strategy, tactics, measures, and results. Manage communication, training and documentation related to Corporate Responsibility strategies. Partner with key internal and external stakeholders in the design and development of these deliverables. Partner with internal functions and influence decision makers to incorporate Corporate Responsibility considerations in their business and internal processes. Use insight into external organizations to determine the highest-leverage external alliances that will create the best opportunities to support and elevate Corporate Responsibility strategies. Stay abreast of regulatory standards and changes to ensure the area of Corporate Responsibility, Community Reinvestment Act, and Sustainability Governance is managed according to regulatory requirements. Accurately anticipate and perceive political realities that may impact Corporate Responsibility and take appropriate strategic and tactical actions that support successful Corporate Responsibility in a changing world. Be an internal and external role model for leadership of the Corporate Responsibility Office. Serve as an internal subject matter expert in the area of Corporate Responsibility. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May be responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in relevant field required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a related field. Expert knowledge of methodologies, trends, and best practices in Corporate Responsibility, Community Reinvestment Act, and Sustainability Governance. Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tell a clear and compelling story that commands attention, educates and influences thinking. Balances talking with listening to foster candid dialogue, overcome resistance, gain support, and achieve results. Excellent consultative skills that shape solutions. Ability to interact effectively with individuals of all levels and dimensions of diversity in the Bank, in external organizations, and in the community. Ability to act as a catalyst for positive change. Ability to operate in a complex, rapidly changing environment while adhering to tight schedules and budgets. Strong project management skills and ability to balance and lead multiple projects in varying stages of implementation. Ability to operate in a matrix-managed environment. Understanding of relevant federal and state laws and regulations. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal Office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like. Extended viewing of a CRT screen. Travel required up to 20%.
