The Director of Ancillary Services provides effective leadership and direction for the GHC-SCW In-House Specialty Services including Radiology, Laboratory, and Pharmacy Departments. They provide oversight to the assigned departments and is accountable for the operational and financial integrity of Ancillary Services, ensuring that the highest level of service is being provided to members. The Director of Ancillary Services is responsible for establishing and monitoring departmental goals and objectives, and initiating changes where required. The incumbent works closely with department managers and must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Work is performed under the general guidance, direction, and supervision of the Chief Medical Officer.

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications



  1. Master's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Nursing; or Bachelor's Degree and significant experience; or some other health/business administrative field is desirable.
  2. Previous management experience required. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in managed health care delivery setting preferred.
  3. Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver license with a good driving record. Ability to provide own transportation to travel between sites as required.
  4. Knowledge and skills in ambulatory healthcare administration and management, especially in relation to HMO's; systems and program planning, implementation, and evaluation, health services supervision, and operations.
  5. Experience in vendor management, partnership and contract negotiations
  6. Management skills such as team building, human resources, including conflict management and medical utilization and quality assurance management required. Ability to provide leadership to medical staff and in a group decision making process required.
  7. Knowledge of utilization management concepts and tools, and statistics preferred. Ability to read and interpret various medical reports and/or results required.
  8. Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and administration as applied to the management of personnel. Good supervisory skills required with the ability to provide leadership to staff required. Ability to provide leadership to staff in a group decision making process required.
  9. Proficiency in Lean Management and Lean Process Improvement preferred.
  10. Ability to use initiative and judgment in administrative areas
  11. Effective analytical ability in order to develop and analyze options, recommend solutions to and solve complex issues.
  12. Knowledge of and ability to use various computer programs such as Microsoft Office and programs/systems utilized in healthcare management including electronic medical record systems such as EPIC.
  13. Excellent verbal and written communication and effective listening skills required.
  14. Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills required. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work cooperatively, sensitively, and tactfully, and maintain composure and professionalism with all levels of staff and the public required.
  15. Ability to effect collaborative alliances and promote and foster teamwork among the Senior Leadership team; and ability to mentor, provide leadership and teamwork among staff.
  16. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times required
  17. Ability to prioritize and organize a diverse workload required.
  18. Ability to stand and sit intermittently required. Ability to see at near, mid and far range required.
  19. Ability to speak and hear in person and on the telephone required.
  20. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak and listen in person and on the phone.
