Job Description

The major responsibility of the 3rd shift Laboratory Technician I is performing routine analysis of inbound samples and finished products. This involves completing all documentation and data entry associated with the receipt, handling and analysis of all samples and results. It also involves maintaining compliance with SOP's and GLP's for sample handling (receiving, storage, & testing). The technician position plays a pivotal role in ensuring there is communication of results/ findings to team members in other departments.

  • Communicate process control testing and product evaluation results to management as specified by SOP's.
  • Prioritize samples as they arrive in the laboratory.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness within the laboratory.
  • Complete analytical testing on in-process and finished product samples. Complete paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Perform sensory analysis on in-process and finished products (i.e. tasting, smelling, visual).
  • Enter data and navigate M3. .
  • Place Product on Hold, as per SOP, and complete the corresponding Hold Letter and complete in M3.
  • Perform pre-operational swabs.
  • Learn new procedures as necessary.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of laboratory processes and procedures.
  • Attend all training, safety, GMP and other QA or Plant meetings as scheduled.
  • Comply with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations and polices.
  • Preform packaging line quality checks (verifies product labeling and code dates - first case verification).
  • Pull records, labels, and finished product sample as required for immediate testing.
  • Operates laboratory equipment, performing calibrations as required by SOP.
  • Verify supply inventories, restock or prepare supplies as needed.
  • Assist with on-boarding and training of new Laboratory Technicians, as assigned.
  • Shall perform any other duties as assigned by their supervisor or management.

Education

H.S. diploma or equivalent required

Related Experience

Two-Three years' previous laboratory experience preferred

Equipment/Software Skills

Basic data entry skills required

Additional Information

Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, and stand. The employee will also be required to use hands, arms and fingers. The physical requirements are they must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in small spaces, and work with heights.

Language

Bi-lingual is preferred

Sensory: Ability to perform sensory testing on in-process and finished product samples, must be able to distinguish issues from taste, smell or sight of the product.

Mental/Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
