We are seeking a driven and knowledgeable General Superintendent with large high-rise building experience. In this role, you will lead all field operations for the company's largest and most complex projects, guiding a team of superintendents to ensure successful project delivery that is safe, on schedule, within budget, and exceeds client expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exercise independent authority to manage all field activities for large high-rise projects with increased levels of complexity.
- Ensure exceptional performance from all subcontractors by effectively driving the schedule and upholding rigorous standards of quality and timeliness in their work.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Management team to perform and coordinate essential project duties.
- Foster credibility with owners, trade partners, and other stakeholders by approaching every interaction with integrity, fairness, and genuine care.
- Oversee all project start-up and close-out activities to ensure smooth transitions.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of, and organize, all project contract documents consistently.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to develop the skills of other Superintendents, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
- Take an active role in shaping the project construction schedule, incorporating input from relevant subcontractors.
- Coordinate the implementation of the final project budget in partnership with the Project Management team.
- Lead subcontractor pre-construction meetings to review all Hourigan and project-specific requirements.
- Facilitate regular subcontractor coordination meetings to ensure alignment and address any challenges.
- Prepare and distribute all necessary project administrative documents, including daily reports, three-week look-ahead schedules, incident reports, safety inspection reports, and material delivery tickets.
- Identify and resolve on-site project-specific issues in collaboration with the Project Management team, escalating critical concerns to the appropriate parties as needed.
- Implement and enforce all Hourigan safety and emergency procedures, as well as quality control program
- Champion the Hourigan Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) by committing to safe work practices, raising concerns, attending, and applying safety and health training, and eliminating hazards within your capability and control and the help of safety staff.
- Provide resources and support to ensure positive safety and health outcomes in line with the Hourigan SHMS.
Qualifications and Experience:
- B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 15+ years of experience on $100 million or greater commercial construction projects.
- Experience leading large job-site teams - specifically on a high-rise project.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Experience with construction software. Procore and Bluebeam preferred.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of Commercial Construction Means and Methods, application of LEED certifications, and a thorough understanding of industry practices.
