About the Job

Essential responsibilities:
Develop and in vitro characterize recombinant viral vector-based vaccines
Evaluate immune responses and protective efficacy of vaccines in laboratory animal models (e.g., guinea pigs and mice)
Mammalian cell and virus cultivations
Bacterial and viral gene cloning and manipulation
Lab animal studies and tissue sample collections and analysis
Perform all phases of experimental investigations in consultation with the faculty advisor(s)
Collaborate with other researchers in the collaborative laboratories
Routine oral/written reports to the Lab Directors/Principal Investigators about progress of major research projects
Provide guidance to laboratory staff including undergraduate students, graduate students and technicians
Prepare manuscripts/abstracts and presentation based on research findings
Present research findings at laboratory meetings and appropriate scientific conferences

Qualifications

Required qualifications:
Ph.D.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior research experience in molecular biology and laboratory animal handling preferred

Essential skills:
Good verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
Teamwork/collaborative spirits
Good knowledge in molecular biology, virology, immunology, and vaccinology
Good working knowledge of flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining and confocal microscopy, RNA/DNA isolation and qPCR, ELISA, western blot,
immunoprecipitation, RNA-seq, transfection, gene knockdown/knockout or overexpression.
Experience with immunohistopathology and immunohistochemistry
Molecular cloning skills
Cell culturing skills
Small laboratory animal handling skills

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $61,008 - $65,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
