The Electrical Products Group was recently purchased from Avail Infrastructure Solutions by nVent Electric plc ("nVent") and consists of three business units, Enclosure Systems, Switchgear Systems and Bus Systems. As a part of nVent, theElectrical Products Group is a leading provider of infrastructure solutions, designed to help ensure safe and reliable electrical operations primarily in the infrastructure vertical, including power utilities and data centers.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Draft SolidWorks 3D Model, required drawings, analyze data to determine changes/modifications needed, and verify the accuracy and completeness of the model/drawings.

  • Reviews all applicable documentation and company procedural manuals to determine critical parameters of design.

  • Identifies factors affecting project design as instructed in design review meetings, and by using information provided by the Estimator.

  • Uses knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, etc., in developing designs and confers with other departments as necessary to ensure integrity and manufacturability.

  • Understands established standards, follows them, and suggests improvements when possible.

  • Research any applicable building codes as necessary.

  • Coordinates with the electrical designer counterpart on projects to finalize designs.

  • Forwards drawings to the engineer for preliminary review and approval, and makes changes and corrections as needed before being sent to the customer for approval.

  • Notifies the Project team of any updates needed to the bill of materials as drawings are developed.

  • Ensures accuracy of work by checking dimensions, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and various parts to the entire project.

  • Coordinates and communicates with staff members in engineering, production, and management to ensure designs meet customer expectations.

  • Works with manufacturing staff in the plant to interpret designs, answer questions, and make redlines as needed.

  • Performs additional duties as requested.

YOU HAVE:

  • An associate's degree in engineering is preferred.

  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D solid modeling software required.

  • Experience designing structural and steel products preferred.

  • Knowledge of power transformers, distribution panels, transfer switches, etc.

  • Experience using Computer-Aided Design software.

  • Strong math skills, ability to perform structural calculations.
