Job Description:

The Network Operations Planning (NOP) Air Traffic Management (ATM) Delivery Technology Consultant is on a team that supports the Air Traffic Control (ATC) group within the Network Operation Control (NOC). This person would be responsible for leading projects, driving strategy, and ultimately delivering new capabilities that provide value to ATC. This Consultant would manage projects from beginning to end, which would include presenting complex topics in front NOC and NOP Leadership, leading technical meetings with subject matter experts, and synthesizing that collaboration to our Technology partners. This role would also interact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to modernize our systems in compliance with FAA's NextGen roadmap. We are looking for someone who is a Team player, organized collaborator as well as strategic thinker, and hungry to learn the operation (and a lot of acronyms) to drive the modernization of ATM at Southwest Airlines.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute projects focused on modernization and increasing efficiency for operations
  • Create requirements to meet enterprise initiatives and enhance tools and synthesize those requirements with Technology partners
  • Transform analysis and strategies into easily understood, presentable, and actionable findings
  • Develop strategies and lead technical meetings focused on project execution
  • Facilitate and share technical guidance from FAA on principles and topics to Stakeholders
  • Drive cross-departmental projects and manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Must be able to meet any physical requirements listed on this job description
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, product planning, prioritization, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of strategic and financial analysis and analytical and quantitative skills
  • Skilled in PowerPoint to synthesize information and develop presentations for Senior Leadership and affected stakeholders
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication with diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical customers, colleagues, and executives
  • Skilled the Microsoft Office Suite products such as Excel, SharePoint, etc.
  • Skilled in applying a methodical and logical approach to complex problem solving
  • Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and to provide direction in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and manage time effectively
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet department objectives and goals
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision-making
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
  • Ability to communicate in a flexible and effective manner with all levels of Employees and Leadership

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in :
    • Solving complex problems and driving multiple stakeholders towards implementable solutions
    • Leading programs that can span multiple work groups and/or departments
  • Preferred: Knowledge of aviation operations and exposure to FAA systems

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to work extended hours based on department needs

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $116,350 per year to $129,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
