Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Employee Relations (ER) Lead that can be filled remotely from any state where Astrion does business. In this role, you will serve as the primary owner for employee relations matters across the enterprise, driving complex cases independently from intake through closure. You will also serve as consultant, mentor and escalation point for HR Business Partners managing ER issues within their portfolios, providing direct counsel to leaders in collaboration with division HR Directors. The Senior ER Lead will serve as liaison with Legal and the CHRO on sensitive issues and serve as the subject matter expert on the interactive ADA/accommodation process. Additionally, you will manage the EthicsPoint reporting system and deliver quarterly metrics for Legal and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), providing accurate data, trend analysis, and actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completed Staff Work: The Senior Employee Relations Lead is expected to exercise skilled, independent judgement and deliver completed staff work-fully developed summaries and recommendations ready for legal and executive review and enabling timely decision making.
  • Full Lifecycle ER Case Management: Lead full lifecycle complex employee relations cases-from intake through investigation, documentation, recommendations, and resolution-ensuring fairness, compliance, and consistency with Astrion's values. Prepare and deliver formal investigative reports, recommendations and supporting documents for leadership and legal review. Act as liaison to Legal and CHRO on complex and high-risk matters, including EEO charges, external complaints, or potential litigation. Partner with HR Business Partners to review and advise on reduction in force (RIF) requests, ensuring alignment with legal, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  • ER Subject Matter Expertise: Act as subject matter expert on the interactive ADA/accommodation process, coaching HR leaders and managers on compliance, documentation, and process management. Provide guidance and mentorship to HR Business Partners, equipping them with tools, coaching, and frameworks to manage routine ER and ADA/accommodation issues independently. Promote an equitable, ethical, inclusive, and accessible workplace culture by modeling Astrion's values in every ER interaction.
  • Insight and Analysis: Track ER and ADA trends, identify root causes, and develop proactive interventions to improve workplace culture, accessibility, and reduce risk. Manage EthicsPoint case tracking and quarterly reporting, providing trend analysis and metrics to Legal and the ELT. Develop and deliver quarterly ER dashboards and reports for HR leadership and executive stakeholders, highlighting trends in performance management, accommodations, separations, and misconduct to inform proactive organizational strategies.
  • Proactive Prevention: Partner with HR leadership to design and deliver training for managers and HR teams on ER best practices, compliance, interactive ADA process, and conflict resolution. Proactively advise leaders on performance management processes, corrective actions, and separations, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements. Develop and deliver ER-related training for HR Business Partners to strengthen their capabilities in managing ER issues, performance management, and reduction in force processes. Serve as a core member of Astrion's Insider Threat Committee, providing ER expertise assessing and managing high-risk workplace situations such as potential threats, workplace violence, and crisis response.
  • Documentation Management: Take ownership of enterprise ER file management practices. Maintain audit-ready ER and ADA case files and documentation in line with Astrion standards and government contract requirements. Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance enterprise templates for ER processes, including warnings, performance improvement plans (PIPs_, and reduction in force communications, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization. Conduct periodic audits of ER case files and documentation to ensure consistency, compliance, and audit readiness in alignment with GovCon standards.

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 7-10+ years of progressive Employee Relations (ER) experience in a government contracting or highly regulated environment.
  • ER Capabilities: Demonstrated expertise in conducting and resolving complex workplace investigations (harassment, discrimination, retaliation, performance, and misconduct). High level of discretion, integrity, and judgment; able to manage sensitive issues with confidentiality.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including Title VII, ADA/interactive process, FMLA, FLSA, and specific GovCon requirements such as SCA/SCLS, OFCCP, and VETS-4212 compliance. Knowledge of state-specific WARN requirements, with ability to track applicability and provide guidance to HR Business Partners on compliance obligations.
  • Leader Development: Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and training HRBPs, ER professionals and business leaders in ER and ADA/accommodation matters. Demonstrated ability to influence leaders, drive resolution, and build organizational trust.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare audit-ready documentation and present recommendations to senior leadership. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Certification: SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred
  • GovCon ER Compliance: Experience as the liaison between HR, Legal, and senior executives in a GovCon environment. Strong knowledge of reasonable accommodation processes, interactive ADA procedures, and best practices for workplace accessibility.
  • Mediation/Conflict Resolution: Training in mediation, conflict resolution, or investigative practices.
  • System Administration: Experience using the Navex EthicsPoint tracking tool or comparable system for case management and reporting.
