Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is searching for a Local Service Lead to join our Municipal Engineering/Water Resources team in Appleton, WI. Experience with leading projects of a diverse infrastructure nature including water/wastewater systems, storm sewer, and detention systems is preferred.

This leadership role offers an opportunity to drive high-impact site, roadway and other design projects while shaping the future of our municipal and water resources team in our Appleton office. The role involves strategic planning, team development, innovation, and collaboration to drive and grow our municipal engineering and water resources practice.

Ideal candidates will have 10+ years of experience in municipal engineering and/or water resources, possess a strong background in project management and team leadership and have the ability to build long-lasting relationships with Clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Partner with leadership to develop and enact a comprehensive strategic plan, focusing on short- and long-term growth.
* Lead service-specific proposal efforts, providing technical expertise and driving innovation in our project approaches.
* Stay ahead of industry trends, leveraging this insight to enhance our service offerings and project delivery methods.
* Implement and uphold high standards for our work products, from design standards to project reports, ensuring quality and consistency across the board.
* Grow, mentor and train staff
* Lead business development activities
* Manage the design and delivery of multidiscipline projects in a profitable manner
* Oversee the technical aspects of various projects
* Supervise the work of engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project
* Develop project work plans and budget projections and effectively deploy resources
* Review, interpret and act on business metrics, including utilization, backlog, work in process and account receivables
* Prepare, maintain and coordinate schedules of multiple concurrent projects
* Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
* Coordinate with government agencies, utility providers or other outside agencies
* Represent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agencies
* Build relationships internally and externally with clients and strategic partners



Required Skills

* Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging effectively at all organizational levels.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Deep understanding of the consulting business.
* Proven track record in operations, business development, and technical project management within the municipal or water resources sectors.
* 10+ years of progressive experience in design, management, and business development, with a willingness to travel as needed to project sites and other Westwood offices nationwide.
* Track record of successfully winning and delivering projects
* Experience developing and implementing marketing pursuit strategies
* Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with peers, clients, and public agency staff
* Ability to coach and motivate others
* Detail-oriented but also flexible enough to be big picture/conceptual
* Familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D
* Additional experience such as Lift station design, Dam Inspections, Dam Failure Analysis, Floodplain Modeling, and Specialized hydrological modeling software (1-D and 2-D Modeling), GIS, WinSLAMM is beneficial but not required.



Required Experience

* BS in Civil Engineering
* Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in WI (and be eligible for multi-state licensure)
* 10+ years of progressive experience in municipal engineering and/or water resources engineering, and project management
