Job Description * Applications are accepted electronically ONLY at www.cu.edu/cu-careers * The Center for Innovative Design and Engineering (CIDE) is a program within the Department of Bioengineering, College of Engineering, Design and Computing, University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. Our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their highest potential through the use of assistive technology, by providing exemplary clinical services, consultation, education, research and innovative technology development. This is a University Faculty position that will work at our Anschutz Campus with primary responsibilities supporting CIDE's research programs. Professional Research Assistant What you will do:
- Assisting in the development of research protocol(s)
- Collaborating with the PI and other faculty and/or Senior PRA
- Abstract Data from subject responses during protocol interventions
- Evaluate consistency of research data
- Provide computational research support
- Recruit and enroll study participants
- Write protocols and informed consents
- Conduct literature searches
- Modify, test, verify and analyze research data
- Prepare research manuscripts and research presentations
- Develop and maintain research databases
Work with the PIs to facilitate the process of requesting, executing, tracking, verifying services and reconciling subcontracts, large purchases requiring SPOs, sole source justifications, and/or consultants including scope of work documentation. - Facilitate the submission and payment of invoices in a timely manner. Work directly with Subcontractor, PI and Post-Award Office to resolve issues.
- Notify PI of contractual issues and potential problems.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications) Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, User Testing, or physical sciences, , or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience utilizing MS Outlook;
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Word to develop, edit and update reports, letters and correspondence.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel to create, revise, and maintain spreadsheets.
- Experience with Quality Management System selection and use.
- Experience with UI/UX protocols, product design and human subjects' recruitment
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience managing the grant application process and developing grant budgets
- Knowledge of federal grant and contract regulations and policies
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong decision-making skills; ability to independently analyze and resolve complex problems via examination of established protocols
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels in the organization
- Ability to produce accurate and timely work products
- Strong organizational skills with attention to details and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and to track and maintain timelines for grant development and submission, research protocol implementation and reports and grant funding utilization
- Ability to learn new skills, synthesize and apply knowledge from diverse disciplines
- Competent computer skills to include expertise in Microsoft Office products (Access/Excel, SPSS, RedCAP, Survey tools, web-development and Word), use of forms, knowledge of database searches.
- Experience working directly with people with disabilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion with research subject (HIPAA) information

- Strong research management skills to include comprehensive understanding of academic medical institution research standards.
- Ability to prepare and present analytical data and reports, and to communicate professionally and effectively.
- Excellence in establishing work priorities and providing follow through, and meeting established deadlines.
- Ability to successfully plan, organize, implement and coordinate financial and research activities in a diverse and complicated system.
- Intermediate to advanced user of Excel, project management tools such as Microsoft Project or others, web-based survey design tools, RedCAP, and SPSS.
Conditions of Employment
- This position requires an onsite presence on campus 5 days a week.
Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements
- The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
