Description

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Summary:

This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor and works under direct supervision by learning and applying their skills to repair and maintain machinery, facility, and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, small-engine vehicles, forklifts, production machines, and equipment by performing the following duties.

  • Performs basic rudimentary maintenance on equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Learns and applies knowledge to dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Learns and applies basic knowledge to examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges under supervision.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications under supervision.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Performs scheduled lube, oil, and filter changes.
  • Executes all tasks with safety being the utmost importance.
  • Acquire knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notify management personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Perform operator maintenance on storm water treatment equipment.
  • Will participate and train with HazMat team.

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate range from $28.00 - $33.00

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs):

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), six months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; and able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include the following: welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools including but not limited to pipe or tube cutters, power drills, power saws, pullers, wrenches, screw drivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, hammers, punches, measuring devices, and chisels.

Preferred education and experience:

  • General facility maintenance, carpentry, and electrical knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and bagging machines
  • Basic mechanical knowledge

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must also be able to work 13 hour shifts regularly with occasional extended shifts not to exceed 18 hours.

Mental demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to understand English, and utilize teamwork skills. The employee is frequently required to speak English and use decision making skills. The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, customer service, mentoring, problem analysis, training, and supervision skills. The employee will be occasionally required to read and write English, perform basic math, use exercise independent judgment, and use discretion.
