Job Summary

Responsible for supporting credit activities within the Accounts Receivable (AR) function. Helps develop and implement policies and procedures to evaluate customer financial strength, research creditworthiness, evaluate risk, and recommend credit lines. Key duties include reviewing and processing new customer credit applications, maintaining accurate and up-to-date credit files, obtaining necessary approvals, monitoring customer accounts, assisting with escalated issues and collections, and performing various other administrative tasks. Works cross-functionally to resolve customer issues and implement solutions to prevent future issues. Ensures supporting documentation is complete and accurate.

Key Responsibilities

* Processes, reviews, and utilizes guidelines to assess, evaluate and approve new customer credit applications/credit file updates within assigned credit limit authority. Goes through the necessary approvals with credit limit recommendations for customers requiring credit limits above assigned authority.

* Analyzes financial statements, credit history, and repayment capacity. Provides a recommendation and reports on those findings.

* Monitors all accounts receivable and assists on escalated issues and higher risk/exposure accounts by facilitating communication and conducting risk analysis. Recommends credit extensions or revocations as needed.

* Works to protect the company from bad debt and helps streamline processes by monitoring order releases, aligning credit with sales and assisting with order issues.

* Assists with resolution and collection of customer invoice deductions, including investigating deduction legitimacy, gathering documentation, communicating with the customer, and reconcile records as needed.

* Participates in the monthly close process to include monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.

* Collaborates cross-functionally to communicate credit limits and ensure they support short-term sales projections, provide support, resolve problems, and reconcile accounts.

* Processes daily deposits in A/R system.

* Applies cash receipts and processes adjustments to customer accounts, as needed.

* Interfaces with customers for payment application clarification.

* Owns certain reporting spreadsheets month-over-month.

* Maintains documentation of customer credit applications.

* Checks customer portals for payments, monitors the cash application process, makes notes regarding customer balances for customer accounts, and follows up with the customer to remit payment.

Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent

* 1+ years of relevant accounting experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Basic understanding of relevant accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards

* Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

* Firm organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills with the ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities simultaneously

* Proficient in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), web-based portals, and some experience in accounting software (M-Tech, SAP, or similar)

* Detailed-oriented with a high level of accuracy and precision

* Good customer service skills with the ability to tackle routine issues, inquiries, and concerns promptly

* Good critical thinking, data review, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

* Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment.

* The noise level of the environment is usually moderate.

* Occasional travel may be required.
