The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The School of Nursing at Columbia University (New York) seek a talented, highly motivated Senior Research Coordinator with a strong research background. Interest and/or knowledge of maternal health and health equity using antiracist approach is required. The candidate will provide a variety of day-to-day administrative and research functions on this grant-funded position. The sole purpose of this grant is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of bias in gold standard antenatal care interventions. This will be achieved through primary and secondary methods including key informant interviews, literature review, and analysis of historical content and existing data from public sources.
Responsibilities
The Senior Research Coordinator will be expected to:
- Monitor the operations of the grant, including keeping a close eye on project timelines, ensuring project progress, and assisting the PI with project development
- Construct and manage an analytic database for study data
- Develop strategies to recruit participants for primary data collection
- Conduct interviews with key informants to understand knowledge gaps in the field and to inform future research questions
- Conduct literature reviews
- Conduct data analysis, including qualitative data analysis (coding) of study data and merging of primary and secondary data
- Provide support and demonstrate initiative with dissemination activities such as literature reviews, and preparing/formatting manuscripts and presentations;
- Manage institutional review board and other reporting duties
The candidate may be called upon to present work at national and international research conferences.
This is a grant-funded position and employment is contingent upon continued funding. This role is expected to end one year from the start date, with a possibility of extension.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree plus three years of related experience in a health-related field such as nursing or public health
- Must possess a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience with data entry and analyses skills.
- Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication, and writing skills
- Ability to organize, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Healthcare system experience and/or knowledge of academic healthcare research.
- Ability to work reactively and proactively.
- Must possess computer fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience collecting data using RedCap, Microsoft Access or another analytic package
- An established record of working with confidential data and maintaining confidentiality, privacy and integrity.
- Demonstrated interest in health of pregnant people, reproductive justice, health inequities in the U.S.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field
- Scholarly writing or editing skills
- Knowledge of Black maternal health in the U.S., and how racism and discrimination contributes to inequities
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Previous project coordinator experience
- Ability to present findings to a multidisciplinary audience, including manuscript writing and scientific presentations
