Auria is seeking a Systems Engineer specializing in Flight Dynamics to support the development and operations of next-generation satellite ground systems. This role requires subject matter expertise in orbital mechanics, attitude control, and maneuver planning, combined with strong systems engineering skills. The Flight Dynamics Engineer will contribute to the design, integration, and operations of space-based mission capabilities, ensuring accurate modeling, simulation, and execution of spacecraft trajectories and maneuvers. This is a remote position with a preference to be located in Colorado Springs, Co, or Huntsville, AL.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
- Provide subject matter expertise in orbit determination, attitude dynamics, and maneuver planning, with an understanding of operational use cases and telemetry-based orbit analysis.
- Support the integration and validation of flight dynamics capabilities within cloud-hosted ground systems, ensuring analysis tools and algorithms fun effectively in a containerized service environment.
- Develop, test, and validate algorithms and tools for trajectory analysis, orbital propagation, and spacecraft maneuver execution.
- Contribute to system requirements development, interface definitions, and validation of mission performance.
- Apply NASA GMAT, MATLAB, STK, or similar software to model, validate, and optimize trajectories, maneuvers, and control laws.
- Support the development, integration, and validation of flight dynamics tools and workflows to enable launch early orbit, anomaly resolution, and routine maneuver planning.
- Participate in system test events, mission rehearsals, and operational demonstrations.
- Collaborate with mission operators, Government SEIT, and cross-vendor teams to ensure interoperability of flight dynamics functions with other system elements.
- Conduct trade studies recommendations for orbit design, maneuver strategies, and mission operations concepts.
- Identify technical risks and contribute to mitigation strategies for flight dynamics and mission planning functions.
- Document architecture, algorithms, and processes in accordance with program standards.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:
- Mission-Driven Professional: Collaborative contributor motivated by the opportunity to develop cutting-edge solutions that protect and serve both the nation and the world.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Preferred 5+ years of experience in flight dynamics engineering, including orbital mechanics, attitude determination/control, and maneuver planning
- Familiarity with ground system integration and operations concepts.
- Familiarity with scripting or programming (e.g., Python or C++) for automation/integration and customization of flight dynamics analysis.
- Understanding spacecraft telemetry, tracking, command interfaces.
- Strong analytic skills with the ability to design, test, and validate algorithms and tools.
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
- Familiarity satellite constellation operations and maneuver coordination.
- Familiarity with digital engineering and MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, SysML)
- Experience with simulation frameworks and visualization tools for trajectory and attitude analysis
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and software collaboration tools (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Jira)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $130,000 - $180,000
