The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, as part of the University's Presidential Frontier Faculty (PFF) hiring initiative. We seek an outstanding scientist whose research focuses on the mechanisms, diagnosis, or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field. Candidates for the Assistant Professor position must demonstrate a strong publication record and the potential for establishing an independent and externally funded research program. Candidates applying at the Associate Professor level must have a well-established, externally funded research program, and a strong record of independent scholarship. The successful candidate is also expected to:1) Collaborate with faculty within the department and across the university, particularly within the expanding neuroscience and biomedical research community; 2) Contribute to the university's strategic initiatives related to neurodegenerative diseases, including potentially taking a leadership role in the newly developing UH MIND (UH Multidisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience and Dementias); and 3) Demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and graduate mentoring.

The Department of Biology and Biochemistry provides state-of-the-art laboratory space within the Science and Engineering Research Center (SERC), access to advanced core facilities, and abundant opportunities for collaboration within the university and with nearby institutions, including the Texas Medical Center, of which UH is a member.
