Description
Summary: Responsible for producing a wide range of specialty 2-color printing, including brochures, stationery, envelopes, business cards, invitations, and labels system-wide for the CHRISTUS Health Organization. Must possess strong technical offset-printing knowledge. Operates offset-printing press, maintaining ink consistency/water balance, color separations, and color breaks, striving for state-of-the-art perfection. Operates a computerized digital platemaker (DPM) computing prepress masters to achieve the highest standard of excellence. Accurately totals monthly printing charges for all facilities. Maintains weekly inventory levels of printing supplies and submits them to the manager for processing. Achieves a consistent high quality of work. Responsibilities:
- Solely responsible for reproducing two color printing requests for distribution to requesting CHRISTUS Health facilities throughout the organization, and also non-CHRISTUS facilities.
- Computerized Digital Platemaker. Computing prepress masters for exact halftones and accurate registration for sharper images to achieve the highest standard quality.
- Maintains water balance and Ink consistency. Maintains all color printing, color separations, and color breaks.
- Records pricing on printing requests. Records price pre-determined by the Director on printing requisitions. Files by hospital/facility. Log the price on the specification card for referencing on future orders.
- Responsible for completing procedures in the Print Center as required.
- Daily documentation of productivity. Accurately records total counts by pre-established facility.
- Totals monthly printing charges. Accurately itemizes total charges by Hospital/Facility and submits to the supervisor on the first of each month for the previous month's business.
- Samples for Director. Submits three (3) samples to the Director of each job to review for quality and accuracy.
- Responsible for maintaining form files.
- Maintains master forms file. Follows established procedures to keep approved forms current as needed. Meets CHRISTUS Health graphic standards.
- Assists in maintaining the master forms file. Replaces revised originals as soon as they are approved and numbered. Adds new originals and removes obsolete when appropriate, following established procedures to ensure accuracy when printing forms.
- Maintains supplies for printing. Initiate orders, following established procedures for printing supplies such as ink, paper, masters, etc., so that supplies will be available when needed.
- Responsible for operating and maintaining equipment in the Print Center.
- Maintains equipment in the Print Center. Operates Hi-Speed Copier, Risograph and Offset Press equipment in the manner recommended by the manufacturer to obtain utmost quality. Performs one (1) preventive maintenance (PM) per month on equipment accounted for, including oiling, etc. Report date of PM to supervisor.
- Reports mechanical difficulties. Immediately reports all mechanical problems to Print Center Supervisor/Director to guard against damage of equipment.
- Responsible for performing related duties as needed.
- Keeps the Print Center in an orderly and clean fashion. Cleans up any spilled ink or solutions immediately, putting wastepaper and scraps in trash container and keeping printed forms on shelves in an orderly fashion to maintain a pleasant work environment.
- Performs other duties. Completes special projects as they are requested by Supervisor/Director.
