Restoring the emotional well-being of our patients and giving them resources for their future is our primary commitment. Job Summary: Supervises milieu activities for all inpatient units. Supervision includes, but is not limited to, clinical programming, interactions with patients, and the implementation of new programs and in-services as needed. Serves as a mentor to Milieu Supervisors, Program Specialists, and Mental Health Specialists by providing ongoing supervision, training, and oversight of clinical activities within the milieu. Work collaboratively with clinical departments and staff to monitor clinical programming and staff accountability. Ensures provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living. Conduct patient safety environmental rounds on all units. Work in the milieu as a MS/PS/MHS as needed. Work collaboratively with HR department in interviewing, hiring & disciplinary process of all milieu staff. Identify performance improvement activities related to milieu/ programming and submit PI reports as evidence of continuous improvement. Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Education: Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology preferred. Experience:Minimum of three years of experience working with psychiatric patient populations and management experience preferred. Licensure/Certification: None Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationship processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, CPI leadership skills, diagnostic understanding behind behaviors often exhibited within milieu and CPR training. Supervision Received: PI Director/ Director of Nursing Supervision Exercised: Milieu Supervisors, Program Specialists, Mental Health Specialists and Nursing Services Coordinator. Working Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/ aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous wastes. Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients and perform CPI interventions. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Drug and alcohol-free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
