Job Summary

Coordinates and maintains academic records, meets with student-athletes to verify academic progress and attends meetings with coaches.

  • Monitors academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Serves as liaison with other support services including Orientation, Career Services, Admissions, Registration and Records, athletics and compliance.
  • Coordinates preparation of learning plan suitable to each student athlete's intended major, and in accordance with university policies and NCAA guidelines.
  • Provides academic support services to student athletes, including assistance with admissions, registration, and tutoring coordination.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of academic support programs and services including such areas as study skills, time management, life skills, and career planning.
  • Maintains communications with faculty relating to the academic progress of student athletes.
  • Participates in professional development activities, training opportunities, and staff meetings to ensure staying informed of NCAA rules and university policies that may affect student athletes.
  • Adheres to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Coordinator, Academic Support Services.
  • Reports any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinates as it relates to NCAA regulations. Reviews, understands and abides by department procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality for the department. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity any matter pertaining to medical, academic and personal data of student-athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Facilitates and coordinates continuing student-athletes NCAA academic eligibility.
  • May be required to travel with the sports team to off site locations.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.


Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with student athletes.
  • Master's degree in Higher Education.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
