Job Information

Postdoctoral Associate Antimicrobial Drug Development

Postdoctoral associate positions are available for scientists who are interested in the study of antimicrobial drug development and immunological effects on gene/protein functions. The successful candidate will participate in NIH-funded research projects aimed at investigating host-pathogen interactions and characterizing genes encoding airway host defense proteins, as well as elucidating the mechanisms by which these host defense proteins modulate respiratory innate immunity and prevent pulmonary diseases. The research will use both in vitro (air-liquid interface cultures, organoids, and organ-on-a-chip) and in vivo (transgenic and knockout mice) model systems to examine biochemical and immunological changes. Regulatory mechanisms of signaling events and transcriptional activations will also be investigated. The lab focuses on investigating the mechanisms of pulmonary diseases, particularly regarding the roles of immune and epithelial cells during respiratory infections and environmental exposure, the application of molecular and cellular tools, and the use of peptide drugs as therapeutics.

  • Performs biochemical, cellular, and molecular experiments to produce data for publication in support of the research program.
  • Conducts computational and bioinformatic studies.
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Maintains an accurate and well-organized record of laboratory activities.
