Position Overview:
The Sr. Manager, Licensing and Permitting is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of licensing and permitting compliance within the organization. This role ensures that the company meets all statutory and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions, leads cross-functional coordination efforts, manages key projects, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. Acting as a critical liaison between senior leadership and operational teams, the Senior Manager champions effective communication, rigorous compliance tracking, and the development of licensing programs that support the company's growth and risk management objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the employee licensing team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of applications, renewals, and regulatory filings.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to maintain and improve compliance with federal, state, and local licensing and permitting requirements.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Operations, Sales, and other departments to ensure alignment and awareness of licensing requirements and changes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal stakeholders and external regulatory agencies.
  • Lead special projects that enhance compliance frameworks or address emerging regulatory challenges.
  • Evaluate and refine training programs to ensure they are current with evolving regulations and internal policies.
  • Prepare clear, data-driven reports and presentations for senior management on compliance status, risks, and action plans.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the licensing and permitting team.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices governing licensing and permitting processes.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience managing stakeholder relationships at various levels.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other relevant tools.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a regulated industry such as security/smart home, solar, utilities, telecommunications, or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with licensing software and compliance management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to risk management.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
