Job Details
The Neurophysiology and Cognition Lab led by Dr. Shlomit Beker, PhD, (www.bekerlab.com) invites applications for a postdoctoral position. The research is done on electrophysiological data (EEG and recordings from the periphery) from individuals and dyads with neurodevelopmental disorders. The main goals of our studies are to understand neural mechanisms underlying developmental disorders, and to develop models and reliable biomarkers through large-scale studies and clinical trials. The Beker lab at the Seaver Autism Center studies children and adults with autism and rare genetic disorders, and how they interact with, and are receptive to their immediate environment. We apply advanced signal analysis approaches to address questions on cognition and social interaction in these clinical populations. Qualifications and Experience Basic qualifications: PhD, MD, MD/PhD in Neuroscience/Cognitive Science Demonstrated expertise in computational modeling, electrophysiology, signal analysis and. Strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals. Excellent communication skills Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team Preferred qualifications: Applicants with expertise in computational modeling in neuroscience and data science are strongly encouraged to apply. extensive experience with Python and/or Matlab and R. Appointment Details Term: 2-year initial appointment, up to a 5-year appointment, contingent upon performance and availability of funding. Location: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, 1428 Madison Ave, Manhattan, New York. Conduct cutting-edge research with a strong translational impact for neurodevelopmental disorders Integrate the neuroscience of developmental disorders with signal and data analysis, and be involved in both studies on mechanisms, and large-scale biomarkers studies and clinical trials. Be an active participant in the vibrant and exciting research community of the Seaver Center and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Compensation and Benefits:
Environment The Seaver Autism Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is recognized for its leadership in autism research. Our team is dedicated to studying the biological underpinnings of autism and rare genetic disorders. We value diversity and inclusivity within our team, actively supporting the personal and professional growth of our members. Being part of the Seaver Autism Center, you will engage with a supportive and interdisciplinary network, accessing state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative opportunities within Mount Sinai's vibrant research community. Mount Sinai offers a rich, interdisciplinary environment, supporting cutting-edge research across diverse areas in neuroscience, translational science and related fields. Applications Please send a cover letter, 2-3 letters of recommendation and CV to Dr. Shlomit Beker at shlomit.beker@mssm.edu |
