The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Surgery is seeking creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivatedPost Doctoral Research Scholars to conduct innovative research in collaboration with Dr. Vikas Dudeja and the lab team. This position will provide scientific and technical leadership in the management, design, and conduct of basic pre-clinical research for the oncology division. The postdoc will also participate in didactics, research, and teaching when available.

Duties to include:



  • Designing and executing experiments
  • Maintaining clinical databases
  • Collecting and analyzing data
  • Assisting with writing and revising manuscripts, grant proposals, abstract submission, and publications
  • Mentoring and collaborating with graduate students and research assistants

Dr. Vikas Dudeja is a surgeon-scientist and the Chair of the Department of Surgery at University of Iowa Health Care. His lab performs cutting edge research on deciphering the role of various signaling pathways, gut microbiome, and immune system on the initiation and progression of pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis. Dr. Dudeja has a track record of translating research findings from bench to bedside.

Required Qualifications



  • MD or PhD in related discipline.
  • Expertise in routine molecular and cell culture techniques with experience in mice handling.
  • Excellent laboratory and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
