The Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at the UC Irvine School of Medicine was established in 1967 and has grown into a nationally-recognized academic department that cares for the diverse patient population of Orange County, CA, the sixth most populous county in the US. Our head & neck cancer and reconstructive surgery division is our largest inpatient division, performing over 700 surgeries and caring for over 400 post-surgical inpatients annually. We have a reputation for training the next generation of outstanding ENT physicians and are backed by the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in Orange County.

surgeries for HPV-related throat cancers, and the post-operative inpatient stay can extend to several weeks.
