What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start around January 2026 and continue through the Winter/Spring term (ending approximately May 2026) or continuing into Summer 2026 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

We are the charging-data-modeling team that uses data analytics and machine learning to bridge the engineering,service, deployment and operation of Tesla's charging infrastructure and to enhance the charging experienceworldwide.With over 60,000 Superchargers and several thousand destination charging sites around the world, Tesla's chargingsolution aims to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy by enabling electric mobility withoutcompromises.We use large-scale data analysis and machine learning models to decide the deployment of the charging infrastructurein terms of location, timing and quantity. We build algorithms that power the vehicle UI features for enhancing thecharging experience while minimizing the charging costs to customers.

What You'll Do
  • Use statistical analysis to extract insights on fleet usage, trends, performance
  • Improve data-driven decision making through rigorous data analysis, machine learning modeling and clear communication with stakeholders
  • Leverage insights to inform planning and optimization of the EV infrastructure
  • Design, prototype, and production algorithms that drives customer UI features, and pricing signals
  • Build reliable, fast, and dynamic data tools, and data pipelines

What You'll Bring
  • Pursuing a degree in a quantitative field e.g., (Math, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering) or related field
  • Strong programming skills with a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms
  • Proficiency in data analysis, modeling in Python
  • Proficiency in SQL relational databases and/or NoSQL databases
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and machine learning
  • Background in statistical learning with experience in using both supervised and unsupervised models
  • Experience with experiment design and causal inference methods
  • Experience with timeseries or geospatial datasets
  • Experience with Spark, Hadoop and streaming data
  • Quantitative projects available online (github, blog posts, etc.)

    Expected Compensation
    $20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
